Kind of missing the detail that it's Apache Software Foundation (a non-profit that's community driven), where as Elastic is a publicly traded company?

The report does discuss SSDs, and it looks like they'll have SSDs as part of reports going forward. There's also a link in their to their earlier HDD Vs SSD post, But afaik there's no existing long term reports on SSD failure

M.2 is possible on the compute module, but there's iirc only a single PCIe lane on the pi... so it's not as speedy as desktop and also you'd need a PCIe switch to get M.2 storage and networking/USB which just increases c

Several problems with that. One, it's Congress' baby.. ain't noone taking it out behind the barn. Second, you need redundancy. If something is proven bad with falcon or starship design... You don't want another situation

512mb probably means the power budget it's designed for doesn't get completely stomped. If you need more memory just get the pi4 and a suitable power brick for it

Interesting, but the =AVG() and I suspect other functions might have a flaw. When I tried =AVG(B1:B4), with one value in B1 (6), it returned 1.5 as the average. edit: ah, just AVG() then, the scroll didn't work on my first try so I ass

The world has moved on from a beige box on a desk with a fat physical link made of copper and fibre. Allowing users to work when their mobile signal is spotty is pretty good UX for those that don't deal in a office cubical or wfh. Yes

Are you able to elaborate on why you chose EAV over using something like the json1 extension of SQLite?

indexedDB is quite a low level in what the interface gives you. This includes what options you have available for querying (just accessing a key range, upper/lower bound, forward or backwards (backwards can be much slower), rather than

Why is that?. Is this because you're on a fibre link? indexedDB is being used with several layers to add a comfy SQL and ORM layer for you? I've used indexedDB on a couple of projects at work, while there are definitely downsides

Honestly, as useful as it is, it'd be so much better if we had better / more contextual diffing. So often it is just spams with the last styling/linting erasing useful context. It's still text file/line based, havin

Finland must be doing g&t differently or you're completely misunderstanding, because in the UK there was never really a hard monetary barrier for the program.

If you want to get hired by them, propose it, get it approved, implement and test this 2nd code path, and maintain it for foreseeable futures, go right ahead. Idk about on first run, but I'm pretty sure you can pick and choose which d

While Clarkson is typecast from his Top Gear days, and does appear to be a bit of a knob outside of TV, he has done some interesting programmes that lack the "oafish" personality.. one that springs to mind is a historical document

Thank you for the 2nd + 3rd paragraphs, those were parts of protobufs design I wasn't really aware of from a cursory glance. I'm a little suprised to learn there's no self-reference support in protobuf, as I wouldn't hav

While there's a lot of issues with JSON, this one also applies to any other interchange format that supports nesting, including the much beloved XML. Protobuf might also have this, idk if it does any static analysis for infinite depth.

Don't. Just don't. It's already a clusterfuck in JS land with grunt/gulp/webpack/TSC/rollup/parcel/snowpack/esbuild/rome etc, do not bring that madness to java as well.

Better question, why wouldn't you? If you can compile the single task your lambda will perform down to as close to bare metal as possible, without affecting your workflow, why not? I use JavaScript in the few lambdas I have because of
