> If people choose to store huge amounts of data using it, I think that would be cool too. This is what should be avoided. It adds unnecessary load to DNS servers around the globe.

Someone needs to host the DNS servers which deliver DNS results. Serverless deployment models under the cover still uses servers.

Please no. CI systems like GitHub actions and CircleCI use to have unlimited CI minutes until people started abusing them for things they weren't intended for (i.e. crypto mining). I would hate if I had to pay for DNS services (or be f

Yep if you look at the bottom paragraph it's a marketing advertisement. I suspect the engineers that helped write this article are either very strongly for redis or cringed knowing their content would be used this way. No system is 100

I imagine it's far more tricky due to the lower image quality and increased noise on the sensors (less light/energy hitting them). Loss of colours in your visual imput as well is a bit of an issue...

The rich are getting really rich via real estate. Rents are getting too high and people can't save to buy a place of their own anymore. I believe if you fix the housing problem (fundamentally limiting how much property a person or corp

There's a big difference in how you develop, ship and share the code. I would say a page loading a 1KB JS file better off than a WASM binary blob that's 2MB. Edit: to be clear, I'm not focusing on performance

A small JavaScript text file which can currently run natively on any browser will always be far superior to a binary WASM blob that's compiled. WASM fills in a use case where you need to run highly performant code on a browser. It just

Javascript will never die, unless there's something to come along and either replace browsers or replace the scripting language used by browsers. WASM is not a replacement to JavaScript and never will be. It's not even a damn lang

it's not a payment. you and the other poster are confused because in both cases yes your gross profit is higher and you do indeed need to pay taxes on that. but in no way did AWS provide you with a source of income. they mearly decreas

Not quite revenue, if you're already hosting your app on AWS and paying AWS for that, those expenses decrease. But in no way are AWS giving away money so to speak. They are trading their commission from your app for compute they can of

Battery life on linux laptops are always bad. Unless you want to try a bunch of custom hacks that could break things in the future for you (when you update) in the name of saving battery... It's the last thing that's stopped me fr

Taking your cloudfront example, the free tier covers 50GB data out at 2 million requests - so your image would need to be less that 25KB to be under the free tier limit. Taking a 4MB image, that would equate to around 8TB which is priced at
