Although this shouldn't detract from the author's specific situation and choice, I think a big share of those using jQuery are those who are also using a development framework that is dependent upon it ==> e.g., Twitter Bootstr

Reverse osmosis creates something like 4 to 6 parts waste for every one part of filtered water. It doesn’t seem sustainable or responsible on scale. [1] https://inspectapedia.com/septic/RO_Waste_in_Septic_Systems....

I don’t have a citation ready for this, but I recall reading that reverse osmosis creates something like 4 to 6 parts waste for every one part of filtered water. If that’s correct, it doesn’t seem sustainable or responsible on scale. Edit:

Solar generally pays off if your state/municipality offers SRECs and you get the Federal tax credit. In some places, like Washington DC, it goes as far being lucrative fast. My entire system will be paid off in under 5 years. After tha

We have an incredibly similar stack for attic.city, aside from the application layer. We lean heavily on CF (edge caching, Argo and page rules). But we’ve recently changed our image assets from S3 to CF R2. Anyone else put that side by side

To all those hating on affiliate marketing and how google is ruining the internet as a place for reliable product research, I propose a different take. Affiliate marketing is actually a way to fund product research and testing. The problem

Coming from a public policy perspective and background, I don’t see it that way. Rather that’s simply how some have chosen to frame it (and some like yourself have come to accept it).

This was one of my favorite recent reads. The most tangible tech related thing it made me think about is Google News. There are reasons to dislike the service (or the beast behind it), but at the end of the day, it’s a great way to help bre

The advice I give more and more to my clients is to stop focusing on absolute numbers. Instead, pick a decent analytics package and use it to monitor changes over time. Focus on the relative, not the absolute. (You still need to be careful

FYI, there is a current option. We use Woken brand pods for a nespresso machine. Fully compostable. I’m not a coffee connoisseur, but I think they’re way better than Keurig (sp?).

I’ll add, in most cases I’m probably describing an app with incredible technical debt, but that’s not at all unusual in the real world, especially in non tech industries.

I’ll offer a 5th — a twist on the legacy developer that is the opposite of the described. On an enterprise app for a smaller business, you’ll find that a legacy developer is one of few, if not the only, who fully understands the app, it’s a

Attic.city was developed and is run with less than one FTE (two part time founders). Definitely boutique — home and fashion products from indie stores in the US — and thereby manageable both in terms of labor and the stack. We’re growing in

My father and I built a solar powered dog house heater in the 80s. We got the idea and plans from a Detroit area newspaper. The “cell” was simply plywood painted black behind a piece of glass with room in between for air movement. It succes

We’ve done it throughout many parts of our house for sound insulation. Apparently it works best when you use two slightly different pieces of thickness. Not sure if that’s why it was done in this case though. It doesn’t seem like the best c
