An idea I heard floated, but never got as much consideration as I would have liked: Teams get a fixed amount of fuel for the race, how they go about converting that into energy is entirely up to them.

Agree. Also interesting that an employee protesting on his own time is considered a "political position", while selling equipment used by dictators to oppress their people is not. The article does imply that this is not always the case, bu

One point I like to make when this topic comes up- Yes, it's unfortunate that people believe bad science linking vaccines to autism. That said, I think it is a symptom (at least in the U.S.) of people having very little faith in the F.D.A.

Agree, in my experience it's people who write-only code that tend to over engineer things. If you can't read or maintain code it better be pretty flexible when you write it!

I found this to be a let down. The story was structured as a first person narrative, I didn't expect it to be fiction.

I once worked at an independent hotel where they backed up their reservations nightly, by dragging and dropping the reservation application shortcut from the desktop to a zip drive. I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry when they asked for

I think Dave Mustaine was doing HTML work, at least for a while. Can't seem to find a reference though, and that doesn't really count in my book. :)

Which is why I said it was a different issue. My point was that the public attention that issue received could make publishers more wary of anything perceived as similar.

Especially after the GTA "Hot Coffee" debacle. That was a different issue of course, but the general public doesn't seem to understand what a mod is, and assume the game publisher is responsible for any and all content, regardless of sourc

To me, this is a Big Deal. I work with a coder with 20+ years of experience who randomly re-implements parts of a massive legacy system to avoid reading and understanding. Refactoring is unthinkable. Predictable results, now we have two

Had similar problems when I got married a few years ago, as did a friend. No tech issues - these were physical invites, with an RSVP card and stamped and addressed return envelope included. IIRC response rate was about 60% of attendance.

I favor going all metric. Knowing all the conversion rates is a pain. I suppose we are making progress, if slowly.
