I'm a little surprised that there's so little mention here regarding this being a possible precursor to the end of the hackintosh. One comment mentions the possibility of using old ARM tablets in a hackintosh build, but this seems

Because resizing in a linear colorspace is more costly. JPEG can be resized without shifting colorspaces VERY cheaply, but requires loading into RAM if a change in colorspace (or gamma shift) is performed. The hit can be quite significant.

As a counterpoint to that (and maybe it has just been a particular model series), I've had the 9343 XPS13 for 5 years now without issue. The battery life is much shorter now, for sure, but it's been a daily driver for all that tim

A lot of these rules/ideas likely apply to Satisfactory, though there are additional concerns like rate-of-climb for ramps and placement of objects is not (by default without using base-plates) fixed at 90 degrees but works in (iirc) 1

I never got in to Factorio, though I'd been tempted several times. I recently bought the early-access Satisfactory though which is a similar game type, mostly to support the developers (Coffee Stain) who make another game I quite enjoy

It should be immaterial whether you chop down the Christmas tree or set a pre-programmed robot capable of doing the same on its way. The programming of said robot isn't the bad act here, it's the act the robot actually performs. T

Medical software systems already have legal obligations that fall on (I believe) the CEO of a firm. In the CRO space for clinical trials for example you're often audited by the FDA, MHRA, and others to ensure your processes are documen

I think it's an interesting line, and depends on the propaganda. I imagine at some point lawyers would need to get involved to argue the minutiae. I can't say for sure and would really need decent examples.

I think the difference is the intent. If the intent of the act is the death (or other outcome) of a group of individuals then the act would be mass murder. If however the intent of the act is to use these acts to cause terror (the deaths ar

I remember this kind of thing from days gone by with coffeescript, and the absolute hell it caused. It may have been made worse by js being callback-heavy, but assuming I had a function: def bob(cb, *args): do some stuff... Then

Many _many_ years ago we used to have to do that on occasion in our office to find where the break in the coax network was. That brought some amusing memories back for me, thanks :)

It was lovely, it had a VERY solid feel to it and the sound quality was as good as, if not better than, many full-size players. Thanks for the link to the review, it's been a fair few years since I've even seen that thing.

As snazz says, Noodler's bulletproof is pretty good, smudging is still a possibility with it but depends more on the paper you use. Another good one is De Atramentis Document Ink (better than the Noodler imho)

I found MIPS (R3000), SPARC, and MC68k about the right size for an ISA. Things like PIC (and similar microcontrollers) and older 8bit CPU like the 6502 and Z80 always felt a little limiting to me. I think those (MIPS etc.) were also a great
