Not only that but you get significant tax relief on your £40k pension contributions (about £8k I think) so takehome plus pension is about £95k from the £100k initially.

OK then, it's fair to state that the policy is not unpopular. It commands a good deal of support from the electorate.

Yeah I think this is a massive loophole. In a B2B setting, there is no GDPR obligation of another company to export all the data that a customer (e.g. a doctor) has uploaded (e.g. data on their patients). We've had some companies quoti

This is great. In your experience, what % of companies simply pay the 80% for a 4 day week versus 100% of normal 5-day/week salary (i.e. no salary drop)?

Unfortunately I have come to realise that this is sadly a common issue with HackerNews. The now-famous first response on HN to Dropbox comes to mind...I still love the community here though.

Netlify! I use it for holding pages for client websites. Quick upload of a folder containing an index.html and a stylesheet and off you go.

This is not true at all. The UK is seeing an explosion in non-BT FTTP networks - Hyperoptic, CommunityFibre, CityFibre, B4RN to name just a few off the top of my head. Granted, BT's network is probably currently the largest but that&#x

I agree with this argument, and this is THE reason why I don't pay for a streaming subscription. I have no desire to see my money to go to the likes of Justin Bieber (who I don't listen to), whereas I would much prefer it goes to

I think there's some confusion here. This topic is about developers selling apps via the Shopify App Store, not about how much you pay Shopify to run an online ecommerce store. Shopify charge a monthly fee for their online ecommmerce s

Great post and that first link is brilliant, thank you for sharing. I agree with you regarding your attitude to developing software - just get it out there first and then adjust the UX later.

I am really excited about this push technology (example: https://truelayer.com/paydirect ) It seems to me that merchants are paying a ton of money in card fees and waiting 2-3 days for the transaction to settle) whereas actu

I recently saw a graph of the average monthly mortgage payment in the UK (a country where house prices have rocketed in the last 30 years). The average monthly mortgage payment has basically been flat over the last 30 years so I think your

Completely agree, I run a Rails 6 app which provides a JSON API. This is then used by Create React App app running in the /clients folder at the root of the Rails application folder. Keeps it separated nicely.
