An interesting proposition, but since so much of the online (even offline) world is ad driven these days (or rushing to be), there would be too many businesses wanting a piece of that action which might contribute to an shortage of ink :) (

Personally, I disagree with this one point. > Cynics will tell you that using your “real name” is so they can sell your details to advertisers. That’s not the case. Facebook is selling access to their profile of a person for targeted a

As an avid user of Twitter, all I can say is that Ello has captured my attention to the point that I'm spending more time there these days (@teanee). Twitter is still best for in-the-moment news, tracking bugs or product updates, quirk

I'm not so sure about that. I recently wondered if the mundane would be accepted on Ello. I've seen that everyday plain text is quite ok with the community. You get what you put into it though. With smaller numbers, you have to re

Sounds like snake oil - anyone have examples of their tech in action? BI gave an example of The Guardian in it's article, but that is visible for me. Instead of addressing the root cause, ad tech will further hurt publishers by chasing

The compelling part for me is the anti-tracking and anti-monetization of every data point. Personally, I prefer being outside of a bubble too.

I find that I get more relevant answers with DDG, but in the rare cases where I need a look at Google, I just append !sp to my search term. For the sake of privacy and just to support a search engine that is fighting tracking, I'll gla

Are there any privacy issues using this app? Streams won't load for me unless I disable VPN. I'm not sure if that's an issue with my VPN or simply this app (Twitter) blocking / throttling VPN in general. Anyone else noti

When I checked last, there are some popular email apps that don't provide an option to disable automatic attachment downloading - like Dropbox's Mailbox and Google's Inbox.

Many don't trust FB anymore or the invasive data tracking of Messenger. I've overheard comments from friends and family that they won't be forced to download another app, especially one that keeps such close watch on users.

Personally, I visit the newsfeed less and less these days. Paper and Pages are my only FB contact these days. The Pages app gets multiple visits in a day, but Paper gets about one visit a week from me. This whole QA stand by FB, if true, is

Twitter's best feature is 140 characters of content. Also, Twitter has always amazed me by being the first place that I discover breaking and often historic news - an experience that has never been replicated on Facebook or elsewhere.

At the end of the day, it does boil down to how users feel, but legit A/B seeks better features, improved user-experience, or identifying something better. The tech community, developers and data folks need to understand that all A

I'd prefer that Twitter fix old functionality before changing typeface for the sake of change. Users can't even save a search from an iOS device using the official app or mobile view. Sheesh, search is Twitter's best feature.
