Looks like you need to brush up on your regular expressions. > For F(acebook|uck)'s Sake Syndication The pipe (|) means or, so the regex is indicating that FFSS can stand for either: For Facebook's Sake Syndication, or For Fuck

In response to common programmer thinking like this I like to make my students read "What colour are your bits?"[0]. [0] http://ansuz.sooke.bc.ca/entry/23

I suspect that not many people share your view. I don't pay for things expecting that they will get continually better. I pay for things so I can keep using them as they are. Change is just as likely to make something worse as it is to

I hear nothing but good things about Fastmail. I'm pretty sure Gmail is the best free provider, but Fastmail is probably the best paid one.

I didn't downvote you, but it looks like a spammish comment to me. Knowing nothing about the situation, it looks like 1. You work for ProductHunt. 2. This is a veiled promotion of "your" site. 3. In any case, the comment adds

Mostly for programming languages with hash tables / dictionaries. Python dictionaries hold keys but the keys aren't in any particular order, so allowing them to come out in whatever order maps very naturally to the language.

Just a nitpick: as others have mentioned, the College Board has no concept of a "passing" grade. Just numeric 1-5. It is colleges and teachers that consider a 3 or better "passing".

Are you the only one? No way. The vast, vast majority of the code I write is only used by me. It's not on github, it's not "published"; it's just to scratch an itch.

I love my Nexus 5. Add an SD card slot and a fingerprint reader and it'd be the perfect phone, IMO.

Well, in their defense, most documentation is terrible. You get used to being able to find something in two Google searches that you couldn't find in five minutes looking through the docs.

And even though I've been a happy Linux user for more than a decade, 10% is very generous. Especially since this is only part of their Business product for now.

I think the key part of your experience is "on supported hardware." I've run Ubuntu on a desktop machine for years and generally things have worked quite well. But I make sure that Linux will support it before I upgrade my vi

You have a lot of assertions here but not many references. I would love to read a blog post that went into detail about all the claims you've made here.

In college I got a LOT of mileage from printing out my code (this was in the 90s) and sitting down with a pencil and tracing through statement by statement. Draw little boxes for each variable, for pointers, for the stack, whatever. Change

I'd argue that there's no meaningful difference between ASCII text and UTF-8 that just happens to not use any characters higher than '~'. As long as there's no BOM, anyway.

When they speak of "old" games, I do not think they are thinking of Mario or Tetris, which are a decade newer and orders of magnitude better than some "classic" games.
