It's really not that bad to learn, to deploy and to work with. You don't have to go all-in distributed system, shared state etc to get a lot of benefit from Ex and the smart decisions it has made.

We used to do a mix of Ocado and our local grocer - Ocado for dry and frozen goods and cleaning. Have switched cleaning to Splosh though, as much lower waste https://www.splosh.com/ .

Not sure why reading any of PG’s writing - especially his tweets - would give the impression that he’s anything other than firmly parked on the side of capital in the class war.

This would be amazing if, out of the box, it sent data to BiqQuery and/or Redshift. Postgres is fine, but for most companies this data is most useful in the warehouse. If this was a simple, drop-in solution to get well formatted data i

We tried to use app engine and it was a nightmare for us. K8s has a ramp, but it’s been incredibly smooth now that we’re setup and going.

Bollocks. The company as an entity played naughty, so it should, as an entity, get punished. Otherwise the stakeholders get a free ride.

I mean maybe I’m not their dream customer or whatever, but we’re happy with google cloud for our purposes - GKE, CloudSQL, Redis. I really enjoyed the essay and surely is some truth, but these products have all been pretty good for us.

Argos is great as an Amazon alternative in the UK and often more convenient as you can pick up at any Sainsburys (there’s lots of small local ones) and they do same day delivery on a lot of things.
