My choice as well. I've just added one more 8GB RAM module and replaced OS with Xubuntu. Happy java dev since then.

You can provide any tag, sha, or branch which can be supplied as an argument to git checkout.

Another Gitbook user here. For me, it's the simple markdown syntax, nice diffs in GIT/SVN, tooling, exports to HTML/PDF with plugin possibilities and minimal vendor lock-in. That said, the preferred tool in our company is sti
