Wow, as someone who played with making games using QBasic on a 486 as a pre-teen I am seriously impressed. I have to chuckle at requiring such a fast processor to run well though. Assuming the author doesn't rely on too many DOS game prog

Nice article--I like that it's concise and sticks to the data to make its point. This article last week from Forbes makes the same point with Paul Krugman's babysitter's co-op column: http://www.forbes.com/sites/pascalemmanuelgobry/2013/0

The Frontline video of the bombing mentioned in this article is posted now: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/foreign-affairs-defe... . Be warned the footage is graphic and quite disturbing. IMHO this video should be nominated for Pu

It would be a neat one-off RV, but the cost of removing all the fire truck bits and building a living area would likely exceed just starting from a van or bus and beefing up the springs.

That sounds pretty plausible. Make a great example of crowd funding for Moms, then turn around and pump your crowd funding business.

Supply and demand. There isn't a huge market for 30 year old used fire trucks, so the prices are low. As the author found out, a fire truck isn't the most practical vehicle in the world--certainly not as practical as a Honda Civic.

The use of 'datas' annoyed me. Data is already plural. The singular form is datum.

Very cool--I'm jealous of what a great environment teenagers have for programming today. When I was 13 I was hacking up QBasic games I downloaded from local bulletin boards. A teenager today can publish Android apps to impress their frien

Came to complain about the same infographics too. I don't even understand why they tried to make the charts look like a bad tetris game. Seems like a perfect example of 'chartjunk'.

It created a fireball 5 miles in diameter, destroyed all buildings up to 34 miles away, and could give 3rd degree burns to people 62 miles away. I can't even comprehend how one bomb could do so much damage.

I have been trying to make uPNP A/V and DLNA work for years without success. From an early Philips Streamium, to an XBox 360, and now a Sony NS400--none have had acceptable results for me. Right now my biggest annoyance is that none of th

Nice introduction! I've been playing with d3.js recently and really, really enjoy it. I love the great support for scales, interpolations, etc--it really seems to simplify building visualizations.
