Torties are great, loyal cats--they can have a bit of an attitude though. :) Here's my little tortie girl: http://i.imgur.com/ilSqNl.jpg

It wouldn't surprise me to see these or similar small nuclear generators powering datacenters in the near future. I've always thought turning old nuclear submarines into small datacenters would be an interesting way to recycle them.

I have so much respect for Notch and Minecraft. It's the dream that pretty much everyone who wanted to build games has had--turning your game into a massive success both financially and artistically. All without the help of publishers or

As someone with a traditional CS background who's learning JavaScript & HTML5 right now, I have to agree that learning JS in the context of a web browser feels like a poor choice for beginners. There are way too many gotchas, hangups,

Great video. The full Going Native conference looks fantastic too: http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/GoingNative/GoingNative-2012 I caught Herb Sutter's day 2 C++11 keynote live yesterday and really enjoyed it, especially where Herb talks

I can't help but imagine this easily devolves to funding porn. The films are cheap to produce, can return a great deal on their investment, and have a large audience ready to pay money to watch from the web already.

I'm not a big fan of these sponges with integrated soap dispensers, they puke soap all over your sink when you put them down.

Wow I really love the idea of a general guide to all things related to a language like this. One of the hardest parts of learning a new language is figuring out what are the best sources of information. I can't wait to see when this is a bi

I just received my copy of this blu-ray last week and am _very_ impressed! The audio and video quality is amazing on blu-ray. There's also a ton of good content beyond the demos, like talks from scene parties and commentaries for almost a

This is really fantastic news. I'm in the machine learning class going on right now and really love it. If you're at all curious about machine learning check out the class--it's very practical and hands on. I'm curious about the probabili

Guaranteed to operate in ionizing radiation of 10^12 rad/s. Yikes, that's like 10 billion sieverts/s. Since a dose of something like 10+ sieverts is fatal I'm guessing a human would be turned to a puddle of goo around that much radiation.

This is a good intro to modern C++ from Herb Sutter: http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/BUILD/BUILD2011/TOOL-835T It's from MS's Build conference but not specific to any platform or tools. I really enjoyed the video though, especially when

Can anyone figure out where to delete their Spotify account in the web UI? I don't even think it's possible. This move to require Facebook is ridiculous IMHO and I want no part in the company's services anymore.
