I wanted to do some Windows CE development as a hobbyist a few years ago (my car stereo runs Windows CE, was hoping to make some apps to monitor OBD parameters) and it was a complete nightmare to try developing against. Maybe things have c

Here's a fun prank I made for Sparkfun's April Fools contest. An Arduino Yun acts as a great man in the middle attack on a USB mouse. You can control evil modifications to the mouse (like flipping the axes, buttons, or emulating

I think people are trying to read too much into this device. This is one of many small board computers you can buy today, many of which particularly in the industrial market have x86 processors. If this sells a few hundred thousand boards

This looks neat for people that want a cheap board to hack on embedded Linux. However for serious control of signal generation, acquisition, PWM, servos, etc. you really don't want to be running a multitasking OS. Something like the

Be careful though, the Galileo emulates AVR code and is orders of magnitude slower than a real Arduino. Don't expect to pick up any shield and make it work, unfortunately.

Very cool analysis of the new chip. If I were Intel I would be more than a little concerned about what Apple is up to here. Would be very interesting to see what Cyclone can do in a proper laptop/desktop with more RAM.

Unfortunately at a normal rate of $300/hr or so you're going to rack up well over $2000 in attorney fees.

It's in Valve's interest to see gaming on Linux succeed so more developers can support their Steambox platform. Nice move on their part to give back to the community.

Are user videos from Peek supposed to be public? I would be a little creeped out if I was the random user from this study and suddenly found my video plastered in a blog post.

Wow, I wonder what Valve is going to do. Maybe time to buy back the augmented reality tech they squandered by firing Jeri Ellsworth and Rick Johnson?

Here's a neat project I made to automatically adjust your monitor color temperature based on ambient light. Think of it like a hardware-based version of f.lux; instead of guessing the color temp in your room based on location, time of

An Arduino is a little more complicated than a breakout for the ATmega. There's a power regulator so you can use any 6-12V supply, a USB to serial converter chip (FT232R), and various passive components to support the chip. The LPC810

If I want to make a Show HN post that links to a project, and immediately comment to introduce it and fill in details will it have to wait for a 1000+ karma person to endorse it? Any way to make that kind of scenario work a little better?

Not directly--with only 32kb of program space in the Arduino Uno you can just barely get a wifi stack in (see the CC3000 chip), but there's no room left for SSL or anything secure. A better option is something like the Arduino Yun whic

Nothing is stopping you from building a natural number/integer on top of a dec64 type. You could add whatever logic necessary like truncating fractional values, throwing exceptions, etc.
