Control over finances, movement, and who someone can talk to are textbook signs of abuse. It's crazy to see it engrained even at a governmental level.

The thing if that API compatibility is huge when it comes to migrating from one service to another. If an open source project can't reimplement an API then it means that it's way harder to migrate from a proprietary solution to an

With the current armament of the US it really isn't a concern to me. Would a war between major powers now last long enough to have the supply chain make a large difference?

I don't know. There are environmental and ethical issues with the current animal agricultural practices so as it becomes easier to be vegetarian more people will switch. I think it's a long way off being truly mainstream but the e

Why would you say that? I figured it would give employees more power in salary negotiations so I figured the salary would go up mostly.

Most of the large deductions the government already knows about. If all taxes were was itemizing the deductions they missed that would be great.

I only studied 3 hours a weekend for 3 weekends. Even for more normal interviews I did a few hours of prepwork so it wasn't anything too crazy but everyone is different. I just assumed you hear about the people who study a ton more.

Do you have any specifics on what you doubt about this? Your comment came across as vague to me

For me the problem isn't so much the license as the change felt somewhat like a bait and switch. After you became popular you changed the license to be more favorable to you, which is always a sketchy move.

The crazy thing to me is it's so hard as a consumer to know exactly what data they are selling. I wish they had to be transparent about what they were selling.

There's nothing wrong with the sub/dom dynamic as long as it's consensual, and it's not really opposed at all to the generally liberal culture at Google (in my experience it's generally more common in liberal circle

Partially it's just really hard to move, visas can be hard to come by and moving away from family is difficult. For what it's worth though my parents currently live in Amsterdam (and love it) and my in laws moved to Canada. My cou

I get the states are an integral part of the US but I'm unclear on why the Senate needs equal representation for all states except for the fact that the founders made it that way.

Do you have an example of those types of arguments? The linked article doesn't actually go into any of then and just referenced books I couldn't find. I'm very curious about this subject because in high school I took theology

Calling them "Midwestern towns" is really weird as they are more dense than many Midwestern cities. If you go to Des Moines (which is the most populous city in Iowa) you'll find the population significantly less dense than so

It seems clear enough in context to me. Is it worth it to get into a semantic argument about what consititues wealthy on what is a tech website? Or is the definition of wealthy actually unclear in this context?
