Kind of a different take, check out https://braintool.org . Chromium only RN and no archiving, but you own your own data in plain text (org-mode format). Freemium, source-available and private. Its optimized for fast filing and

This is a crazy situation. Unless something changes many millions of Chrome users are going to find that the extensions they depend on just stop working next January. As noted here many very popular extensions have not been updated in years

Completely disagree here. Even by your definition, a bag used for groceries is being given a new life if its reused as a trash bag! The biggest saving on waste comes from a single re-use. If every plastic bag was used twice we'd need

Open a new browser window before you venture into the new topic. That prevents all those tabs from getting mixed in with your more essential work (gmail, calendar, jira, Trello or whatever). Open a new window again if you feel like you'

This came in just as I was about to submit my HackerNew extension to the store so I added it as an optional extra. Thanks @frabert! HackerNew [1] adds a 'hideAll' button to the HN top bar and an 'Open in new tabs' contro

I worked at Sonus Networks (now Ribbon[0]) in the early 2000's building VoIP solutions for telcos. We had a bunch of unexplained errors in a new installation in Denver. After much head scratching the engineers on the problem concluded

Scaling your system is always going to be a problem, no matter what tools you use. I hear you on isearching. To support multiple files you could look at ag.el for fast cross-file search (although not incremental like isearch). Alternately y

Thats a fair point. But I'd argue that as long as there's a large enough core of agreed upon functionality having app-specific data packed away and carried for free (as plain text) is not a bad thing. My app, for example, sticks a

This is very exciting. IMO the Tools For Thought (#TFT) ecosystem is crying out for a standard interchange format to break down the silos. Org-mode could be that format. It's not just an outliner format, it's the best markup[1] a

Obviously I'm biased since I built BrainTool because of my emacs/org use, but I also use markdowns and maintain the braintool.org blog on github in their markdown. I don't find it more readable. Maybe it's a familiarity
