What kills me is when these things add like control flow constructs to YAML. Like just use an actual programming language!

Jenkins had a lot of issues and I’m glad to not be using it overall, but I did like defining pipelines in Groovy and I’ll take Groovy over YAML all day.

launch an in-app browser and don't use apple as the payment processor. The Epic v Apple lawsuit verdict makes this allowed now.

Zoxide is incredible! Going from cd to zoxide is like going from walking to driving an F1 car around the directory tree. I made a function called y that is like the z function but is git worktree / jj workspace aware. So useful!

How am I the first person to mention fzf? Just integrate fzf into your shell and use ctrl-r to instantly summon a fuzzy shell history search and re-execute any command from your history! I cannot imagine going back to using a terminal witho

Using a package manager to share code between repos has worked far better for me than submodules. This comment sums up the issues better than I could: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31792396

Submodules are cursed. I feel bad for you that you have to work in a repo that uses them.

Those github build issues you've linked have nothing to do with funneling people to EAS Build. EAS build doesn't make your builds more reliable than just using fastlane and building on your own infra. Most build issues are due to

The DX may be ideal but they are not very ideal for your iOS users. Painting pixels vs composing native views is not great. I’d rather put up with the more painful DX of react native because I care more about the quality of the app vs the D

Calling Expo a paid tool with metered usage is just flat out misinformation. You can promote your preferred tech without lying about alternatives. Expo is a free open source framework that costs absolutely no money to use. You do not need t

Yes building a native app has fewer layers of abstraction and often has better DX than building with a cross-platform framework where you have to work around bugs that inevitably exist in the framework. Cross-platform frameworks I find are

I know how to do everything in git that I can do in jj but the thing is I would never bother doing most of these workflows with git because it’s way more of a pain in the ass than with jj. I work with version control in a totally different

Yeah but in jj every time you run ‘jj log’ you see all your anonymous branches and you can rebase all of them at once onto main in 1 command. When I’m exploring a problem I end up with complex tree of many anonymous branches as I try differ

The UX around anonymous branches in git is not nearly as good as jj though. Also git has no equivalent to the operation log. `jj undo` and `jj op restore` are so sweet.
