On emacs I just hit SPC s r p and then type my search and it will search my entire project with ripgrep (which is so fast)

style insensitivity WILL lead to typos that don't get caught. Someone will change the casing somewhere. Therefore you must always search with style insensitivity in mind.

Completely agreed. Unfortunately when you have to see the same mechanics who also work on Porsche, Mercedes, Audi, and BMW, you get reamed on the repairs. parts are expensive too.

I moved to VW from hondas and toyotas. Overall i love the car but i would say that maintenance is much much more expensive than japanese cars. German auto mechanics and VW parts are just so much more expensive than japanese. I have no deale

You are completely discounting the subjective experience of driving different cars. Some cars are just flat-out much more enjoyable to drive. When people are spending significant portions of their lives driving, getting more enjoyment or co

It seems crazy to me that people are so annoyed that their libraries have different style that we have to have additional tooling to make code search simple for the end-user.

Does your child have enough outlets to burn off his excess energy? It seems to me that kids really evolved to be outside running around with friends and siblings extensively. I would bet if he was getting his heart rate up for 3-5 hrs a day

The big issue for me is it interferes with code search tools. I like being able to use ripgrep to find all uses of an identifier. That becomes hard with style insensitivity.

Yeah jenkem is way funnier. For those that don’t remember Jenkem, the hoax was that you can get high by combining shit and piss in a bottle then putting a balloon on the opening and letting the baloon fill up with gasses for several days, a

Also what about the data race detection stuff that rust does? A GC does not stop data races.

The idea of a world where beehive-esque drone noise is ubiquitous is terrifying to me. That sounds like a truly awful future. It's going to be real shitty to be outside once there are hundreds of drones flying around all over the damn

I highly encourage you to try going to a rock climbing gym (or outside) and doing some climbing. Fixed my hand pains almost immediately.

by tcoff91 8y ago
Yes but that isn’t a problem because you will still be protected from all the things that rust is trying to protect you from.

I agree and never do serious work on a laptop, but some require mobility. I simply dock my laptop and use it as my desktop because occasionally I need mobility.

Why is it that Tesla is the only parts provider when other car companies have aftermarket parts?

It has a long history of use in Aerospace and military applications.

Yeah I don't even do embedded work or anything real-time and even I know that in applications like this you should probably be using something like Green Hills Integrity RTOS.

So you don’t need to drink it as a tea? I tried and it was the nastiest shit I’ve ever tried to consume. I could not force it down. Perhaps with Miracle fruit I could drink it but no way on its own.

Honestly for me the ideal dose is 250ug. I take half of a Trader Joe’s 500ug pill. Melatonin has a U shaped dose curve so you either need a tiny bit or a whole lot to be effective. 500ug leaves me groggy in the morning, 250 is perfect.

It seems to me that a potential flaw with this plan is that mounting patent litigation costs money, so if everyone just joins the PTG to avoid expensive patent litigation defense, then the PTG would not have any income to sustain itself. It
