Say you confidently bought the roaring Eurostox 600 in March 2000. You saw it coming back to its value in July 2007. Then reach 1% gain in March 2015. And a 7% gain in Feb 2020. Buying S&P, or the Apple, Amazon and Tesla ones is another

Jean-Marc Jancovici is a French engineer/entrepreneur who study energy and climate change for about 30 years. There is a single talk I know he gave in China that is in English: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRC5-hAbU

Pinch/zoom it to go to an area you want bigger. Then it can be scrolled, not every time but most of the time. Unzoom to go to the next slide.

I was thinking exactly this too. And found quite a few other articles about glacier archaeology, like this one: https://climateaudit.org/2005/11/18/archaeological-finds-in-... As it dates back from 2005... I&

Strava just improved their mapping recently on the mobile. You draw with your finger a shape, and in seconds(it is impressively fast) it gives you a route to follow. Based on their heatmap probably. I then still have to import it in Komoot

When you workout, your stress level increase. And your body somehow deteriorate, but with some rest adapt as the result of the training. And you improve. Then you can have other stresses coming from life events, work, kids, travel, partner,

2 years ago, the feeling of slowly dying in front of my computer started too. I'm 47. By chance, two friends suggested to go for a mountain bike ride with them. I couldn't breathe and was ridiculously far behind, but I did stick

Nothing came close to the speed of XSLT when IE was ruling. I loved it, and enabled us to build very fast web apps. But then came JSON, Firefox and other browsers that made XSLT/XML look a less supported and ageing tech. I tried to wri

We provide a timesheet web app. And didn't want save/submit buttons. Auto-saving the data as users type. To alleviate this change for business users, we decided to build an Undo, and a Redo, for most user actions. With a similar

Do you have a link to some information about this? Is it a new box, or changes inside the Mac Pro box? In French we say "cachet" for something exclusive, not "caché" which means hidden.

This will work fine in Europe as long as we stay in our own country. The prohibitive rooming costs make us all turn off data when we cross the border. Long life to GPS devices over here!

The creation of a complex DOM tree(nested loop, partials, recursion) is what is slow compared to string concatenation. The injection time of the string need parsing, and will take a bit longer. But in total less time than DOM manipulations.

The DOM is a live object while a string can be sliced and compiled in a function. If you run a template once, either to generate a form or a simple list, the DOM is faster than innerHTML. But if you need to repeat a template(loop), use part

In Belgium, a court order forced the ISP's to block TPB. They complied immediately. The same day TPB registered a new domain name in Belgium, to prove the uselessness of such action. What a waste of public money.

I found as well the Spanish QWERTY to be the best designed keyboard if you type in English, French and Spanish. The French AZERTY is so poor, it is strange it is still the default keyboard for French speaking regions.

I revolutionized as well the templating 3 years ago with pure.js... This one is an intentional xslt for json. The result is a thin ~400 followers on http://github.com/pure/pure , we use it for our web app, and I get regular thanks emails.

We have built a web app like you describe, without any HTML coming from the server. We use pure.js (our lib), 3 things can happen when you debug: - the selector is wrong, you get an exception - the data you want to read is not in the JSON,

I wrote pure.js to run the frontend of our web app. It is live for about a year now. The next version will be innerHTML free. Thanks for talking about us.

You can make a cross domain POST with an IFRAME but would not get the response directly. Having to use parent.postMessage, the window.name hack or polling with JSONP depending on the browser. Possible then, but not so easy.

The problems we got with older browser versions(especially IE) is mainly with CSS. Not JS or HTML. Rendering on the server would have caused the same issues.

As a passenger of a Dolmus(Turkish taxi bus), scared by their driving style, I heard a joke a while ago: "In France, traffic lights are mandatory. In Italy they are optional. In Turkey they are decorative". It looks they took it seriously.
