I know I’ll probably get banned for calling this out but I find it disgusting that silicon valley was crucifying Brian Armstrong for his “no politics at work” stance but now everyone is back to kissing the ring now that he’s made everyone

This is why running something like VSCode on your Mac with the remote ssh dev setup is the best of all worlds. https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/remote/remote-overview Virtualized Linux on x86 AND being able to r

If you don’t absolutely need a local VM I’ve found it much nicer to have a beefy ec2 instance be the Linux vm that you connect to in order to work in Linux on x86. Recently I’ve been doing this with VSCode which has a remote dev mode that w

This is a compelling laptop I wonder if the build quality will compare with Lenovo. 15.6 inch screen at 1920×1080? That’s barely OK but not great for a laptop in 2021.

Seriously, if I had a problem with a dell XPS laptop I’d have throw it away. Repair after 7 years? I think Dell would laugh in your face. Lenovo and Apple are the only brands that even remotely stand by their products after even a couple of

Yeah this is great but the power of git is kinda in its ubiquity like bash or cURL it’s everywhere and the lowest common denominator. I can’t help another dev if they need this installed for me to be helpful, etc... I really wish changes li

This is total trash, I've had my M1 MacBook Air for >2 months and it shows 0% used. I've got the 512GB SSD / 16GB ram model. I'm using it HARD for 12 hours a day so YMMV...

Yeah and sadly using the index in those scenarios could be even more worth it due to the high selectivity it has. Is PG smart enough to avoid that if the query patterns are frequently or exclusively covered by the index?

Giving people who don’t understand margin a margin account is the easiest way to have them blow themselves up financially. Most people think that this leverage is free, it’s not, and it multiplies your risk. If you are wrong you’ll be twice

This was the first Linux I ever used. I still have the official MkLinux book somewhere at my parents house. Great memories! I used KDE and it was rock solid and worked well. I think I had it on my beige G3. The HD eventually died and was re
