I don't know that I've ever properly followed the news. The closest I came was regularly reading Business Week as recently as ten or so years back. It was, then, approximately the same as reading the first 80% of each article in t

If you want a list of fiction and textbooks, I think you could reasonably expect that this was the wrong list for you. If you want contemporary nonfiction, you will find yourself wading into something at least moderately political. We argue

I had a second podcast occur to me, thought it stays on a narrower track. There's a five year old podcast called Strong Towns done by a guy who runs a non profit by the same name. The recent stuff isn't so good, but if you go back

Not sure whether I should call it a work day: I get paid and it's exhausting, but it's also school. An extended job training, perhaps. My average day: 4:15 -- Get up, make breakfast, pack lunch, drive to work 5:00 -- Study for two

I'd suggest that the point of avoiding political discussion is not just because it's unpleasant or divisive. In my eyes, the problem is that politics has so much implicit back-end that it cannot be usefully discussed on an interne

I would argue that the probability of viable fusion rises faster with funding than does ending the aging process, if we assume that they're both possible. It sounds like fusion is largely a materials problem, where it seems like more f

Absolutely. The road's design language should communicate these things to drivers. Knowing 65 vs 70 may require signs, but you should be clearly informed by overhanging trees, narrow lanes, and activity when you are in a busy area. It

Absolutely correct, the way we improve safety is by making the most dangerous people feel less comfortable. I've read about some places where a rural highway leading into a town will narrow to ten foot lanes, waking drivers out of thei
