Yes, I remember those days of the content. But, I don't really agree that the thumbs up/down system is giving me bad recommendations. I still find the 'percentage' that it thinks I'd like is probably really accurat

Gut feelings: 1) software isn't likely worth anything 2) use the experience as a resume builder 3) I'm surprised by so many people thinking this isn't a common exit at dissolving the company. That said, maybe worth contacting

EDIT: Sorry, mis read your comment the first time. I was excited that you had a hookup for $100 scooters. ~where do you get a Ninebot for less than $100? [1] [1] https://store.segway.com/segway-ninebot-kickscooter-es2~

Yeup, this. I worked at a former company who paid 7 figures for a re-org (lay-offs), and it was run mostly by 25 year olds, with the occasionally pre-recorded video by a big-co partner. Was really interesting dynamic that felt more like &

i think it's fair that for big projects, you'll be fine with the IDE. I spend my days in emacs, Intelli-J/Rider, and VSCode... I don't do a lot of code editing in emacs, except for usually dotfiles and other single file

Hey, this is pretty cool. Just checking it out. It would be nice if you didn't need to request Full Dropbox permission to only a specific folder or something. I think DropBox supports that these days. This way we don't have to giv

I think static documentation (your link) is a different use case than an interactive tutorial (not documentation). I didn't find the presentation horrible, but it's likely just looking nice and perfect on my computer hooked up to

Often you only have access to the corp-approved tools and don't even get access to install all your custom stuff without IT approval, etc.

You source code is hosted in Github. I'd imagine the dev environment is ephemeral and is spun up, code edited, and then disappears until it's provisioned next.

Where this gets interesting is where this and projects like Eclipse Che [1] are self-hosted in companies that have or want to have dev workflow where the source code doesn't leave a locked environment (no source allowed on dev's m

We called it backcountry skiing in the mid-90s. It was a common name. Euros probably called it randonnee. But out in Lake Tahoe, California, we called it playing in the backcountry, sometimes with touring, etc. Backcountry.com definitely d

I don't see what the issue is with space/size having the JDK in a docker issue layer vs installing through ansible/chef later (or whenever it is you're doing). Docker images are layered, and by including a pinned versio

Good thing we've had XML defining layouts for many years, despite many of the technologies that used the pattern being dead. XML as a layout definition vs XML as data were topics devs discussed heavily 15 years ago, too. So many Java f

I'd probably use the term quaint over naive, in 1985, only the most hardcore of households had an Apple IIe, IIc, IBM PC, etc. And no cell phones, so it really was so early on. Consumer tech hadn't really come into its own yet. I
