It's still CPython but many of the scientific software stack pieces (NumPy/SciPy/SKLearn) have been re-written to call Intel optimized libraries (MKL/DAAL mainly).

I know that. But they won't let users change the default policy to RemoteSigned...that's what I find annoying. (I can't use stuff like posh-git as a result.) The proposed workaround is to copy scripts into ISE and then use th

This explains why we're not allowed to run any PowerShell scripts that are not signed by some IT root certificate on my work laptop. However, given that I can run any arbitrary executable (with user rights), this does seem a bit ridi

Julia's REPL allows for LaTeX like notation (e.g,. you can type \alpha to get the matching Greek letter), which makes it quite natural to use the Greek letters in places that make sense.

This is simply not true...I've gotten these vouchers and used them and sure as hell wasn't buying y-class tickets.

Presumably she thought the passenger was just being facetious and was going to take the jumper back off as soon as she wasn't looking. (I saw something like this 3 times on a Delta flight in which there were empty seats and the passeng

Our IT has done this as well...I'm told there are privacy requirements in Germany that equate logging chat history to eavesdropping on phone conversations, so it's illegal to log chat histories. This is insanely annoying since it&

This guy didn't get kicked off the plane...he was put in an lower class (and some guy in Economy maybe got bumped).

Exactly...I don't get the complaints about the existence of IDB legislation. If the airlines got to write the contracts themselves, they'd say you'd get no compensation at all outside of a refund of your ticket price if you c

I don't really get the complaints about the vouchers. Every airline offers are good for any ticket directly sold by them...(there are specific ticket classes that cannot be booked directly with the airline that will not be allowed, but

The 787 and A380 are both immense planes compared to 90% of the domestic fleet. You can count the number of domestic routes that can support widebody aircraft (787/777/A33/A350/A380) on one hand. And they are significant

To be fair Toshiba's sale has nothing to do with their semi business (they lost so much money in their nuclear misadventure that they have to sell the only profitable portion of their business to pay off remaining debts)...and the semi

I actually agree with this...I took a flight through Amsterdam recently and was sort of shocked to see an entire planeload of passengers for a 787 line up in one line that ended up blocking half the walkway in the terminal. There's no

What kind of airports are you people flying out of where the entire airport doesn't have free wi-fi and outlets (this is actually one thing about most airports that has gotten significantly better in the last 10 years), but is still la

I think the reasoning here is that without American intervention the Allied powers would not have been in a position to insist on a punitive armistice treaty.

The lack of real 8-bit comparison data makes the whole paper a little suspect IMO...it's sort of like the early GPU papers that claimed 100x improvement over the CPU while running x87 scalar CPU instructions...the benefits are definite

All of these aren't in defining a new product. There was no guarantee of a customer base for the S/360. There was already an established market for each of these listed items. Maybe if Apple had spent that kind of money on making

Reading about the S/360 is insane...no one makes investments like that anymore. This would be the equivalent of Intel or someone spending $40 billion dollars on engineering the and the infrastructure needed to build a quantum computer
