I'm impressed but I think Spider-Man/Miles Morales on the PS5 handle it better. What I gather from this demo is that UE has made these AAA features easily accessible to more developers, and that Nanite means that artists will need

Pretty spooky when Russia is gearing up to invade Ukraine.

It did offer user permission, it was an icon in my taskbar that prompted for it. I didn't go out of my way to do it though.

Outside of requiring a newer PC I don't think Win11 is a trainwreck at all, I was auto-upgraded to it a few weeks ago and it's been fine. Auto HDR is neat for games and there's been a UI refresh, other than that it's bas

I really don't get their hostility to low hanging fruit. They continue to only publish a Debian package, if you're on any other distribution you need to use a community built Flatpak. They could improve the security of everyone by

Maybe I'd care if they didn't spend a year of donation-funded development time on Mobilecoin integration.

Man what a nice trip into my childhood, I'm still a Mac user, but I miss the Classic Mac OS aesthetic.

Why do you think inclusion and good engineering are mutually exclusive?

Me, no. But all these horror stories means it’s probably a one-time thing for my kids instead of going regularly. While Six Flags does have a lot of coasters, I went pretty frequently as a kid and there were plenty of rides for younger kids

They just need to build more parks. I typically have a better time at Six Flags because they're regional. They're smaller sure, but they're cheaper, easier to get to, and less overwhelming. Disney actually tried this approach

The vaccine reduces hospitalization and death, not transmission with new variants. That's why the CDC changed its mask guidance over the summer.

The requirements for presence are unspecified by Roskomnadzor, and these companies will basically be putting someone within reach of Russia under threat of imprisonment when they do something Russia doesn't like.

It looks like that problem is fixed with Flatpak override and not installing the Flatpak with root? This is also probably because the Signal Flatpak is community developed on Flathub from Signal's .deb, they're not building Signal

I'm less knowledgeable about AppImages, but your download link implies it's for Ubuntu only? I'm a Fedora user.

by tapoxi 5y ago
My experience with AppImages is fine, but I prefer Flatpaks because they can be updated with a remote. My installs of Signal and Firefox are with Flatpaks and GNOME Software transparently handles updating both.

It cost me about $500 for an electrician to run a 30 amp circuit to my garage, and $200 for a NEMA 14-30 compatible EVSE.

Most people aren't fully charging their car every day. I have a 220v 24 amp plug for my car and it charges ~22 MPH, which typically covers my driving for the day. High rises need maybe a dozen of these chargers with load sharing so mul

Is it? In WhatsApp all of your messages are E2EE. In Telegram it’s an option, only works in 1:1, doesn’t support desktop, and uses homegrown encryption.

I wouldn’t say this is “woke” speak, this is designer speak. Also Stonetoss is an antisemetic white nationalist so he’s not a great example of sane commentary.

You get updates every 6 months with a really nice upgrade experience. It is not rolling. Compared to Ubuntu, more stuff is upstreamed and the package management is nicer (dnf history undo is a lifesaver).

Every time this discussion appears on HN, the argument is that Gecko needs to exist because otherwise Blink will dominate, and Blink is overwhelmingly controlled by Google. But I think that's the wrong solution, it just means that we n
