I'd argue the success of the Steam Deck is evidence of the Linux desktop's maturity. The normal game UI is just another Wayland session, and it's a fully functional PC running Arch Linux. KDE is installed and easily accessibl

Fedora deserves a mention as a solid desktop alternative to Ubuntu. It ships very up-to-date packages but doesn't require as much tweaking as, say, Arch. The default 'spin' is GNOME but they provide excellent support for Plas

I use https://selfcontrolapp.com/ to block websites that offer a quick dopamine hit, like HN. I put my phone in do-not-disturb mode. I block focus time on Google Calendar and set myself to be DND on Slack during that time.

Checked out your website, this is an excellent idea and a great approach to fixing XMPP UX issues. Best of luck with your project!

I love XMPP but I onboarded 20+ extended family members just by giving them the Signal group link. I don't want to think what kind of headache introducing my 92 year old grandfather to XMPP would be.

This is why I recommend friends & family use Signal, and they've actually adopted it due to the really easy on-boarding. It's probably the best iMessage alternative out there.

It kind of is, there's a lot of demand now from console gamers to disable cross play with PC due to the abundance of cheaters. This was pretty evident in the Modern Warfare 2 beta.

Valorant's anti-cheat has been very successful (Riot Vanguard) but it is also an early mode kernel driver, so it can load before any potential cheat driver. I think Microsoft should just ship an anti-cheat API as part of Windows so gam
