Unfortunately science is unavoidably a political hot topic. Climate change denialism is the norm in the United States, we've somehow decided Tylenol causes autism in the past week, etc.

Steam runs all games in a container called the Steam Linux Runtime, so the only difference is the kernel and host Mesa drivers.

Speaking from personal experience I went from a BMI of 24 (healthy) to a BMI of 31 (obese) because of daily cannabis use that gave me insane munchies. This may be genetic, I had friends that didn't get them nearly as badly as I did. (I

But the Mac compositor (Quartz) implements the same permission model as Wayland, that's why you get a popup requesting permissions to share screen etc.

HN and r/linux have had this same argument countless times. Wayland was developed by the people behind Xorg because X11 was designed to send output from a minicomputer to a terminal. It is way too complex and fragile for modern use cas

I switched to Fedora Kinoite about two years ago and it's been a great experience. Updates are mostly invisible to me, I only layer a handful of packages (zsh, fzf, distrobox) and I do development inside of distrobox containers so I do

Good question, but that isn't incentivized by capital. We're in an era of massive student loans and unaffordable housing. Unless there's a clear and direct incentive to learn, people will take the easiest path. Life is tough

Basically, PS5 sales recently reached 80 million. Xbox Series X/S is estimated about 30 million. They lost the generation where digital libraries were built and can't gain the market back. There's been a lot of rumor lately t

Wayland is the mass adoption stage, I've been running it for years. Since its a protocol it does depend on what compositor you use. KDE Plasma and GNOME are very mature, GNOME was a little funkier with fractional scaling last I tried.

Because shipping the runtime with the software means you can get newer software on older distributions. It's also great for immutable/atomic systems where installing packages at the system level is an anti pattern.

I really don't understand why it wasn't just a requirement for Apple and Google to include a client side filter. Parent sets up the phone and it's enabled by default. Much simpler option for everyone involved.
