Thanks! Every k8s service has a DNS label. We ensure that the DNS label can be derived from the username. The subdomain for the app (also the username) is then used by nginx to proxy it to the right upstream k8s service. Initially was on Az

Hi all. One of the MOOC volunteers here :) If you're trying out the console at cloud.imad.hasura.io then don't worry about the bit that asks you for your "NPTEL" registered email id. Just go ahead and enter your email a

Hey there! Thanks for your comment. Well actually we do infer directly from the Postgres schema. Only for users not familiar with Postgres directly, we recommend going through the UI so that not only is the table created, but the Data API i

You could do that, but you don't need to. The ACL constraint can be any arbitrary SQLish expression that is a boolean. In this case, say select is allowed if: req_user_id is in article.viewers.user_id. This means, if the request'

Hasura engg. here. No offence taken! :) Hasura is indeed kind of what you described. The warning on the UI is mostly for non power-users who probably don't have a good db migration kind of practice. Underneath, the Hasura data API stor

The Data APIs are not actually generated. The Data API service exposes a JSON query language on any Postgres table. So if you want to customise the controller, the easiest thing to do is to write a custom API endpoint (which you can deploy

:) Thanks. This is one of the key thoughts that inspired Hasura! We kept refining these data APIs on Postgres over the various products that we helped our clients build.

The motivation is quite similar, especially with the out of the box APIs. The architecture/implementation is significantly different. Key value-prop differences are that out-of-box APIs are just one part of Hasura. The idea is to make

What kinds of business models will decentralized applications have? Any good examples? A decentralized web seems like a logical next-step. Although, it's hard for it to happen just by developer power alone. Once viable business models

In the cases that you've seen C/C++ being used, what alternatives do you recommend, that would have satisfied the same requirements without compromising on the safety? Rust?

Reg. the architecture question: People generally start carving out microservices once they hit some scale. What about starting off with microservices (because tools like k8s make the otherwise insane management overhead more tractable)? Cou

Maybe it can be thought of as a tooling problem? Say, a plugin that allows a one-click publish code + data from Matlab, and then it all goes up on a well-indexed page so that others can download/run it.

Our focus is less on the platform (k8s & docker do the heavy lifting), and more on getting the developers building their front-end out. More BaaS than PaaS, in a sense. So providing those ready-to-use APIs that work well with each other

I would just like to point out that Hasura is a PaaS. More like heroku, but with some ready to use microservices to get started quickly. So with hasura-db (which is a wrapper over Postgres) you get a BaaS like thing that helps you prototype

Hi! Core Hasura dev here. We're trying to make hasura a place to deploy microservice style applications where hasura handles all the operational things for you (sort of like heroku) and then also wrap up a lot of great existing tech as
