We've crossed the point where running Kubernetes on CoreOS was easy. Maintaining Kubernetes on Ubuntu with docker (vs rkt) is now just easier to handle.

This sounds like a rather vague statement: > React Native, you write kind of one app and it’ll run on both iOS and Android which was appealing to us for the same reason. GraphQL ended up kind of solving that problem for us in the sense t

gRPC makes it easy to talk to a server with flat input/output types like in a function call. GraphQL is more a query language. In some ways, analogous to your client using SQL instead of an ORM to query a system.

I think the big (only?) advantage that GraphQL has in this case is you get "API documentation" out of the box as a frontend developer. The tradeoff is that I need to use GraphiQL or similar tooling to leverage this auto-complete,

We take a slightly different approach at hasura. Every table/view (node) has declarative permissions defined. These are Boolean constraints that can use any property in the graph. The GraphQL data layer then ensures that the generated

I'm quite excited about finally being able to achieve the holy grail of "reusable microservices". I think the key thing that makes this actually possible in the Kubernetes world is the idea of operators + CRDs. It gives devs&

I really want Kubernetes to become as accessible as possible to developers. There are a few key problems though from a dev's POV: 1) Concept creep: How much kubernetes do I need to know to be productive? 2) Local development and workfl

It’s more of an intermediate hack I’d say unless you don’t mind missing the odd event. We’re working on another implementation that uses the replication stream (like dbezium) that will be a more best-practice solution. (I work at Hasura)

I think an architecture diagram is missing! We'll add it to the site asap to make it more clear! This is basically how this works: [client] <--graphql--> [hasura graphql engine] <------> [postgres] That's pretty much i

I think having a military force that helps a set of people enforce an us vs them and ‘own’ resources (natural or otherwise) makes a country a country. A company, unless it has physical power, will never be like a country.

I was actually just about to say that. There seems to be fair bit of overlap in graphql and grpc from the Codegen and Schema POV. Graphql is more intended to be a data query language and grpc more generic function calls. But they’re both es
