Thank you! Do you know how does it connect hardware to a "wetware"? "Just plug the nerve into this socket"?

ELI5 anyone? Is this an artificial retina that so many people would benefit from? If so, does it connect to an optical nerve?

I think sea ships have less lifetime than these frames... I guess designers of B52 did a hella good job. Akin Nasa folks who have sent Mars rover "for just a couple months" :)

What does "36 bits of work" mean, sorry?

Good to hear! Hopefully they enforce it somehow, and the trend will continue.

Thank you. I guess it is a good start. But, as a solution - develop new protocols and standards, and declare that military does not buy _anything_ that does not interoperate on these standards, no matter how advanced your shit is?

B52 is even older, and still kicking (I think...)

Please forgive my ignorance of military processes involved. Could that be addressed by old software trick of modularising components - software and hardware-alike - and rely on some extensive semi-open protocols to connect these? I think ca

Can we ask them not to do it somehow?

The numbers on a paper itself are much lower, so I would say it is a worthy idea. If not for "whole" kernel, then at least for the calls that they have replaced.

By reading the description of these tasks on https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/89-555-x/2013001/t/tbl1.... it feels like it is more of a intelligence test then just straight literacy one.

I don't remember ever seeing WRT54G above $80, and I bought both of mine for $69 and $59 I think. What time period are referring to ?

I would continue to buy their newer routers if they have open firmware a la WRT54G. New wifi standards came out, had to install routers for friends and family, and WRT54G itself kind of died after 3 or 4 years... (I bought a second one, but

I have never heard of this company before, not sure if I want to now. Mark Z participating in these riots would be HN-worthy.
