Silly me - the syntax that I proposed was the second one err := close(ch) to handle case when you don't want a panic on closing of closed channel. The first one was discussed on golang-nuts, but it died there.

It is a Google's graveyard. They will sunset this one (stop accepting new "bodies") after 2 to 5 years, and open a new, "improved" one, with worse UX and lost features.

Yeah... and once it comes down to a company's pm level, they all lock it down to what they think is the best, leaving teams using something that is guided towards PM and reporting, instead of getting job done.
