What your city did sounds great, and I hope it will be similarly done in other places as well. I think ideally the city should allow for other ISPs to lease these lines (of course at price that would cover the cost of maintaining them) and

When Mozilla was trying to get their OS for mobile phones, I think they stepped in too early. Right now it's probably a better time for an alternative.

I also thought of it when I read the question, but looks like after they've been acquired by Confluent the project is essentially dead.

I just love the Google's way of thinking. Users: We hate cookies, because they are abused to hurt our privacy by allowing advertisers to build a profile about us Google: We have a great idea! We can get rid of 3rd party cookies and ins

The filesystem is restricted, but network generally not. You can have a malicious container connect to rest of your network. The ports don't need to be open either, it can phone home (like how most bots do). Certain data centers restri

If requirements were provided and person didn't fulfill them, they did a bad job. If requirements were fulfilled, but you aren't happy with the result, then you did a bad job.

Eh, that describes exactly my last job (which wasn't bad, I liked my coworkers, but my last manager made it a horrible experience), worst job I had so far. He wasn't bad as an engineer, but he had this crazy OCD to a point that ev

There were open source social network solutions, feels like that would fit perfectly there. Because you deploy it, you have full control who is using it. I never used any of them, so I'm wondering if they still exist.

There was a bug fixed few months ago. Until recently when you tried to destroy the infrastructure it started to undo what was actually deployed. Previously it was using the current hcl file.

I'm not parent poster, but I believe (when he mentioned looking at TF and AWS documentation) he most likely meant to use TF instead of CloudFormation. And frankly I think CF is far more robust.
