Taxpayers paying for a commercial service whether they use it or not sounds like one. Special privileges and fast-tracking is another.

There's a wonderful book about this, Built to Sell, written as a story but based on a business seller's experiences: http://www.builttosell.com/ It's a good read even if you're not thinking of selling because it covers creating efficient

Because the Android default browser had no SVG support until version 2.3, allegedly to save 1MB of space. These older versions will remain in widespread use for a while yet (slower upgrade rate than iOS) and Raphael doesn't fill the gap, un

This is difficult without context, but first I'd replace "never win" with "haven't won yet". And even if you haven't won yet, you've surely learned something along the way (even if it's what not to do). Can this knowledge be used to try aga

As harsh as it sounds, I'd probably re-read Taskstrike's comment above. EDIT: On a more practical note, I find reading biographies of those who've succeeded in the face of adversity gives me motivation to "press on". Dyson's autobiography i

But how does this differ to StatusNet/OStatus? If we have several similar solutions to a problem it makes it more difficult for one to gain traction. Seems like reinventing the wheel, or am I missing something?

Handy resource - thank you. Would be great to see Linux included as well, but I wonder if that's too difficult because of the number of distros.

Yes, unprefixed properties should go last. This is because CSS rules lower in a stylesheet have priority. In theory, it's possible for a browser's experimental (prefixed) implementation of a property to behave differently to its stable (unp

For me, the main use case would be creating an OS-independent web app for WebM conversion rather than relying on a desktop program. Together with the File Reader API this could be done locally without having to upload a video.

If you mean the Web Audio API, there's no connection. WebM uses Vorbis for the audio stream. Also, this in-browser WebM encoding is video only - no audio yet.

Maybe, but there's still a lot of value in being able to see pre-rendered code so I wouldn't go as far as a redirect. Somehow combining the two could be a good option.

I can't help but feel saddened that we learned how to code using View Source (indeed, it's a big factor in the web's success) and now we're trying to prevent others doing the same. Also, this seems like a surprisingly naive generalisation t

Personally, I don't think it is. For most use cases, Raphael is a better choice for its browser compatibility (namely IE up to 8) and approachable syntax. Having said that, there are times when pure SVG is preferred, such as when JavaScript
