I don't disagree that a train is better in many situations. I'm more curious about situations where a city is prepared to make a 1B+ capital expenditure. For example boring a tunnel for a train vs. a dedicated bus lane on the high

Well, yeah. The MTA in particular apparently has a 55mph max speed (same link). A car can compete. Keep in mind I'm not counting traffic, but obviously is (currently) a huge advantage for a train. I'm talking more about greenfield

These are excellent points, but I reckon boring tunnels, dedicated lanes and self driving can mitigate the disadvantages you mention.

I always get an inkling that buses (like Bolt/Mega/PeterPan) + the existing highway + roads are superior and more scalable than any other type of transportation, dollar for dollar. Why do people push for rail? Self-driving cars ob

Excellent! I recall someone on here (HN) saying that many of Elixir's strengths are weakened significantly because K8 does similar things (auto distribution, hot reloading, etc.) Any truth to this? Also, can you distribute nodes on VMs

It's unlikely that VCs have more resources then the collective internet though. Of course there will be scams, but there are scams with or without VCs. The question is -- should only VCs have the opportunity?

How do VCs "get around the scams and pretenders?" Presumably regular people would do the same thing.

It seems that the majority of "legitimate" uses surrounding blockchain concern "trust", or rather try to eliminate mechanisms such that trust is inherent. Imagine some authority, perhaps a non-profit that was 100% trustw

Is there are place where you can simply download pages already "perfected" in its UX and you can simply add your own custom business logic to it? Something in this direction would be Bootstrap's templates: https://

I really like Tachyons. Not being tied down to global styles is so nice. The downside though, is that anytime you make something you have to redo all the styles. I find this not to be a huge deal, though since you can just turn them into co

Isn't it impossible to win the game of blocking headless browsers? What's stopping someone from creating an API that opens up a real browser, uses a real (or virtual) keyboard, types in/clicks the real address, etc. then proc

I'm still figuring that one out, hah. I think if the culture was strong enough and public transportation was "perfected" within the cofines of the 100acres people might gravitate their under normal market pressure. Otherwise

I've often wondered why somone moderately wealthy doesn't just start a super dense town, e.g. everything within 100 acres, and be within 10 miles of a major city. Create tons of these at a 50K people/sqmi density and implemen

I define small as in small business, as in less than 100k records. I also don't consider a linear regression to be "AI". Things like genetic algorithms and neural networks are probably overkill for an average small business.

Even real estate speculators are paying tax which goes to things such as roads and schools. In addition they're incentivized to keep their property at some minimally viable state.
