What was your incentive to dedicate so many hours for this website? Can you list a few if possible?

Linux, Unix. For someone who is asking what it is, simpler response is "just a distro".

by system2 3y ago
It is just a linux distro. Not a handsome one either. "Every" IT person needs to learn how to use Windows Server first before jumping onto these things because 90%+ companies are using Windows Server.

Congrats. I have a few questions though. How do you plan to transition from hobby and consumer grade products to business grade products with this setup? With 24/7 operation, those hardware will die within a few months. Do you plan to

Mortgage can be evil sometimes but I am extremely happy with mine. I purchased a house and after 3 years I am paying less than what I used to pay for 1 bedroom apartment. In 10 years, my fixed rate will make my investment even more handsome

IMHO it is their approach. I use Hetzner and OVH (and their other variants for lower budget clients) for our EU clients. They do not use buzz words like "deploy app server", "cloud clusters", "turbo charge this app&

When I was a child I had a poster of him in my room. It is so sad to see the news here. He will always be remembered.

I stick to percent personally. Easier to adjust if I am working on someone else's messed up css. rem/em depends on global values but many sites override these with different classes and manually entered pixel values. I find % to b

Why do people want to be labeled "mentor"? Is this an ego thing?

I am not talking about multiple accounts or aliases. The example is a spoof method, not alternative sender.

I ate dinner last night and cost me $100. What kind of weirdness is this?
884.
by system2 3y ago
How often do you even need to send a spoofed email other than your own email address? This is very unrealistic usage of an email client, or a reason.

Realistically how long would it take to modernize the software while keeping the old hardware?
887.
by system2 3y ago
Correct me if I am wrong but what is wrong with WordPress? Takes seconds to install, can run on a $3 a month hosting without additional effort. Tech is to make life easier, not harder.

I built my entire app on text-davinci-003. It is the best writer so far. Do you think gpt3.5 turbo instruct won't be the same?

As a backup option. Not their entire service. I tend to think heavily encrypted files could be safe there.

If you can use a basic hosting with backup features, you can simply use a $5 droplet to sync almost everything possibly you can think of. Or OneDrive / Google Drive if you are using Windows based applications with databases. It is real

Currently using self hosted Motamo Analytics. Very easy to use and intuitive.

No practical use. Just making people say "wow" for a minute then move on. You really can't use them for anything good yet.

Yes, having gmail account was wild in early 2000s. Hotmail or yahoo were the only options.

There could be a simple reporting function with a click of a button, type what's needed, then admin checks these reports from a simple page and take action. Way faster than sending an email from an email client, then opening it in anot

HN can run on a $10 droplet with cloudflare cdn. It is a text based forum with relatively low volume visitors.
