Interesting, I knew their economy had picked up a bit what I wasn't aware of the extent, thanks for the link.

They are very poor, and have gotten poorer since the last round of sanctions went through. However when you chose to build rockets rather than feed people, you can make your dollar stretch a bit further.

> More to the point though, what happens when a janitor learns to code and gets a coding job? You still need a janitor! That is a good point, but I think it comes down to the barrier to entry - it's easier to become a janitor than i

This smells of good old Operation Bodyguard ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Bodyguard ), the intel seemed to be too readily available, and available at just the right time for it to be believable.

Possibly, but I wouldn't think it's likely that every janitor is going to want to be a programmer. Whereas if you invest money in a school that teaches programming, there's a good chance that most of the people attending that

I guess other than wanting a continuing supply of in-country tech's to hire (as others have touched on), it sort of comes back to the old "give a man a fish" vs "teach him to fish" shenanigans. They could hire a bun

You know, I'm actually really impressed with Google for speaking with their money on this. There's a lot of "why don't these hicks just get a real job", but no one really seems interested in furthering that sentimen

Apologies, dang. This particular issue is just a bit of a sore spot for me because I have a friend and a family member who both suffered sexual abuse as young children. Doesn't excuse my comments though so again, sorry about that - I&#

This is more blanket advice rather than anything specific to OP's situation. In Australia we've had bush fires hit remote communities who've then been short on all sorts of supplies for days at a time. Not to mention in havin

Not an easy way to do it really unless you plan to do it ahead of time and go buy a cap or and expanding plug. I wouldn't recommend stuffing some rags or anything down one as they're both flammable and absorbent so the water may j

Ok this is ridiculous, only on HN could we see child pornography being defended as a victimless crime. First of all, no child should be exploited in that way. Period. Not up for debate. Whether or not they feel victimised at the time by wha
