Yelp is full of wannabe food critics/influencer types who complain about the ambience or quality of service. I always get the impression that these people only go to places that are already popular. For things not related to food/

The internet aspired to be a library, but even libraries are curated. I'm not saying people shouldn't be allowed to say whatever they want to say, but a private company has the right to refuse service to customers who intentionall

In real life, if somebody borrowed my megaphone and started shouting racist things, I'd have the right to snatch it away because it belongs to me. So the private companies that refused service to Gab were doing nothing wrong. Also, jus

So many rules, just to avoid a bad meal once in a while. The author should learn to live a little. Also, if I was ordering the least interesting sounding thing at fancy restaurants, I'd always be ordering a burger.

I can never tell whose side the recruiters are on. Are they on my side, because if I get hired, the recruiter gets a commission? Or are they on the company's side?

The Airpods cost a lot because: a) Apple but also, b) because if they sold them for $55 they would never be able to keep up with the demand. Airpods do look like qtips, but now that they've become such a common site, my eyes have gotte

As long as the water-haters are mixing ice cubes, tea, juice etc. in their "waters" I think they'll be fine. I am going to assume this is a prank. Although, if more blogs and news channels and talk shows pick this up, I guara

For a lot of designers and UXers, adding delight/magic to an app means adding cutesy illustrations and wacky animations. Delight for me is when an app does more with less input from me.

Not a big fan of this style, but it's either cute illustrations or stock photography that looks like stock photography. With illustrations you can at least keep the look and feel of everything consistent.

I noticed on the Qt website that it's used in everything from car dashboards to coffee machine interfaces. Is there a special reason for this? Is Qt hard to get into?

When your manager is a sh*tbag, two things can happen: You will either get sick of him/her and switch teams, or you'll keep taking it till the manager decides they really don't want you any more, and they give you a bad revie

It's not just @GaryV, but the culture in workplaces everywhere in our country. People take a lot of pride in staying up all night to finish presentations, working 80-110 hour weeks etc. So if you're a person not doing this, you&#x

I have a feeling that Apple has been testing the feasibility of adding multitouch to OSX with the Touch Bar gimmick. Physical controls are so much better! I mean just look at the things musicians and DJs are doing everyday with a keyboard,

Totally agree with you on the cars part. The other day I rented a Ford Edge at an airport, and I struggled to start it. I had to look up the Ford Edge manual PDF and then find a youtube video to understand what I was supposed to do to get t

Google is not Yahoo. It never was. It's like a mad scientist, trying a lot of different things and then shutting them down if they don't work. But I agree, Google+ sucked. Also, if you are content creator, you really should post o

You can tell a lot about how a game is doing when you pay attention to the "let's play" videos on Youtube. People have been complaining about how short telltale games were, how they always look the same etc. for a while now.

My experience has been that being firm but polite over a phone call or in an in-person meeting is more effective than sending a sarcastic, clever, trying to be funny, or smiley-face-at-the-end email.

I spend the first 70% of the work day on hard problems and things I absolutely have to get done. For me this 70% ends at 4pm. At 4, I step out for a coffee, stroll around the block and grab a cookie. Then I come back to my table and reply t

There are a lot of people who can only afford one "computer" and so they choose to buy a smartphone with the largest screen. It's their laptop, phone, tablet, tv and gaming console.

If you reply to emails before 9 and after 6, you're telling your manager/client ... hey! I am at your disposal 24/7. By the way, if your boss gave you a "work laptop" you're already screwed.
