I just went through about 20-30 SRE interviews while hiring an SRE II for my team. Every single one of them that had state management at all used terraform cloud. I found that really interesting because I've never heard positives about

Wow I had no idea so few people worked on TF. Where are the bulk of Hashicorp working? > So far, four companies pledged the equivalent of 14 full-time engineers (FTEs) to the OpenTF initiative. We expect this number to at least double in

You're basically coming for my job as an SRE/Platarch but great documentation you've covered a lot of scenarios and in a pretty thorough manner. You should figure out a way to import current infra state and control it from yo

I totally missed that. I enabled plugins awhile back but didn't know how to use them, you have to use gpt4 and click an arrow at the top. There's an AWS arch diagram plugin. Anyway, I tried to get it to diagram a multiaz multiregi

I had this come up when I was buying a house. I have a very common name and some guy 20-30 years older than me had past due child support. I also have no kids. This was my first house purchase so I was completely ignorant of the process. Wh

I wonder if theres some image openAI thing I can run a diagram through to add it lol. Theres not a chance I'm spending that long unless it's maybe for an interview.

I work in platarch and I'll fully admit that my diagrams aren't the best, pretty ugly tbh. The people who do great diagrams typically have a lot of experience drawing them on whiteboards during meetings. It just hasn't been s

First the main.tf example with my_bucket and my_configs is bad it's using the same resource names. Second I run pretty complex metas (for_each, etc) and have never encountered an issue.. Third, using a random string as a bucket name? S

You're so edgy!! I almost got cut with that comment! 2edgy4me! You want to change your OS and leave m1 processors because random people on the internet think that OSX has better applications than linux. Hilarious. Like we sit with you

They put their news articles dates in tiny little text at the bottom of most articles.. interesting design choice. I didn't even see them until I looked at a few.

Of course it comes installed so you can listen to audio. That isn't what Soundsource does - you CAN make Pipewire work like soundsource, though. Of course my post is biased. I gave my opinion as someone who uses both vs someone who onl

lol You're 100% right. I don't enjoy fixing linux at all after work. I used to do the VFIO GPU gaming desktop w/ linux + windows passthrough but I finally got over it and just installed windows on my desktop.

This is hilariously biased. This is HN, you're not talking to people who don't know what Linux is. Hell, a huge portion of us are linux engineers of various sorts. You're also in a thread literally about a linux app. Anyway.

I use .dev now. It's not much better tbh. I usually have to spell .dev "like developer," but I think people get it a lot more quickly than they did xyz. It's been awhile since I've had to say it to anyone though.

.xyz was a terrible TLD. I used it a few years ago and giving people my email address was so annoying. Even some logins didn't accept it. No benefits whatsoever. "yourname@domainxyz.com??"

I fall asleep to documentaries. I don't want to loop one video. I want to play videos that relate to one another and not go from one topic to one completely unrelated. The only way to reliably do this is to use a playlist, which sucks,
