> If you know what you're doing, CLI is just faster. This is quite true with other Git GUIs since they pretty much wrap the Git CLI and add a bunch of dialogs and whatnot, but GitUp was designed especially to avoid that. I'm a

The fact 3 of the top 5 questions of all time on Stack Overflow are for basic Git operations tells you something: http://stackoverflow.com/questions?sort=votes . IMO this all boils down to the Git CLI just being terrible e

HTTP/HTTPS, Git and SSH are supported. What's your remote URL? It'd be very helpful if you could take a minute to post a topic at http://forums.gitup.co so I can have a look. Thanks!

Fair question. It's not decided yet. The easiest code-wise was to put the Map editing features in that bucket, so that's what I did for now. Everything else (browsing, committing, stashes, repo config, undo / redo, cloning...

Anything can happen (I have a number of projects that are open-source, some other close-source), but the idea so far is to have a free app with an in-app purchase to unlock the advanced/pro feature. I might make open-source some of the

GitUp Map is mostly keyboard driven at this time for speed, but post 1.0 the idea is to add support for more mouse based UI indeed.

GitUp uses a subset of libgit2 for the core low-level functions (credited in the About panel and I've been contributing to it for some time). Then on top of it is an extensive toolkit I built in a few months for repo manipulation and r

You get the usual Git error "unable to fast-forward" which means in plain English that what's on the remote repo doesn't match what you have locally anymore, so you can't push, unless you force. In such cases, GitUp

Actually, GitUp was designed to be for professional software engineers first, even though it may also appeal to beginners. It's faster than the CLI for a number of operations, and offers features that don’t even exist natively in Git l

You can re-order commits on the spot and a lot more. See overview of app at http://gitup.co and docs: "Editing the Repository" in http://forums.gitup.co/t/using-gitup-map-view/34 .

My pleasure! It's certainly been very useful to me to have Telnet capabilities into an iOS app, and same for coworkers I introduced this feature to. I think some people like to be all high and mighty about security issues and derive

iOS apps are heavily sandboxed, have non-executable memory pages, can't even run in the background, this library doesn't implement a shell at all, etc... so what would be a "massive" security hole here? Of course, it cou

Yes this is Telnet, not SSH and you certainly wouldn't want to ship it enabled by default: it should be enabled on Debug builds only or have some explicit switch for testers, etc... The primary use of this library is for development an

No, there was no time nor did we have the in-team experience. EC2 is one thing, which you can get down to pretty cheap if leveraging spot instances, but most of our infrastructure costs was on storage.
