This position is not justifiable, and the author must surely know that based on his experience and the lack of any quantitative comparison. In other words, he's lying and his lies will kill people if we listen to him. > Coal and nat

I think some popular misconceptions about OCaml are actually driven by its connection with Jane Street. Because they are the most prominent industrial user, people can think it is good for their niche but not useful outside it, or that it&#

This isn't really what market makers like JS do. While they do make profit from the spread between prices they buy and sell at, the key difference is that they will buy from seller A and sell to buyer B at different times. For the dura

More specifically, the Reason syntax has JSX: you can use React without JSX in OCaml/BuckleScript and you can use JSX for non-React things in Reason (either BuckleScript or native).

The situation with Reason is (arguably needlessly) confusing. Reason is just an alternative syntax for OCaml, despite being often advertised in combination with BuckleScript (the more recent OCaml to JS compiler). You can use either Reason

Yes, it has a very 2006-era "OCaml as an alternative to C/C++" attitude, hence the claims that OCaml has an extensive library ecosystem and developer tooling: compared to C this is true but not compared to Python/Java in

The people you know are almost certainly not representative of the world at large. Maybe 80% is a bit high, but the number is certainly over 50%. The median global person earns less than $3000/year.
