Our vast prison industry suggests that they don't gaf about our relationships. I think they just want to separate the sheep from the goats. And then dispose of the goats.

You could do nonuniform probabilities. Of course the same could be done using multiple dice (ex 3d6) but yes, options.

This bad stuff won't happen because reason leads us to it. We will come to it because stressful circumstances and/or promises of gain leads us to desiring it. Then we will contrive justification. Inscrutable medical scientific aut

What if it went the opposite way? What if perfect brainreaders/liedetectors became as common as smartphones. Used on everybody all the time. From politicians and cops to schoolkids and your own siblings. What would be an optimistic ver

There will always be many many assholes. In the past, time and space have insulated us from them. But now we have the internet. The assholes can see you, touch you, talk to you, even decide what you are allowed to say. This is a mark agains

Is there a wood that's already almost transparent? Can we selectively breed it to be more transparent?

Might be easier to colorize and machine too. Like for stained glass type construction. If we could show the grain of the wood a bit, that would be lovely.

Note that the sun produces collimated rays too. And the stars even moreso. Which is to say, the rays are always parallel if the source is far enough away. Which feels like a good metaphor for something.

The trick would be to find a real phenomenon that expresses itself symbolically. Like discovering an animal born with a nametag. I think you'd have to look in the realm of thought for that. Surely it isn't just empty space where w

You always hear "the map is not the territory". Which is to say, names are applied, models are asserted and all our fine ideas about the world are our own contrivance, not the world's. But how close could we get?

Create a sphere out of bar magnets. The interior hollow. The shell comprised of bar magnets with all the PLUS pointed inward and the MINUS pointed outward. That would be like a MINUS MONOPOLE. Yes no maybe?
