That's a good point about textbooks. Do you find that if a book includes Exercises at the end of each chapter that you actually do them? That's been a big challenge for me - so many great books have 'Action' sections but I rarely find mysel

I definitely agree on the physical whiteboard + cards. Having used a large Kanban board and then changing to a project using the full suite of Jira tools, I am dying to get back to the board. WIP limits and ordered backlogs are missing. The

Can anyone comment on the page turn speed of the non-touch Kindle4 vs the Kindle3? I picked up a Kindle Touch thinking that the refresh speed would be better than the 3rd gen model, but, like Marco, I didn't really find it to be the case.

You are correct, it was referenced in Tipping Point (as well as Freakonomics and others). The wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_windows_theory has a lot more information about the study and its findings.

I think the Pull Request for article submission is a really awesome idea. Sounds like a neat idea, you should start it up.

I'm waiting to receive it on my Kindle through the Send to Kindle button - I'll report back if and when I get it. Edit: Okay got it - was really easy to setup with the Readability button. Flipping though the book - the pictures at the start

What about a form that lets someone submit a comment and it appeared as a Pull Request in your repository? Once you merge in the change, Github will rebuild your blog and it will appear. That would be kind of cool. Or you could just have a

I started down this path before they even added Ace to the site. My idea was a little bit different: I would drop in a single file to my Jekyll repo that adds a "Create a new post" page on my blog. There is a text field with a live markdown

The source code for the app is using the github-markdown[0] gem to render - so it seems strange that it isn't working. [0]: https://github.com/github/markup Edit: Ah, heres the problem: https://github.com/github/markup/issues/47 - the g

This technique is also useful for iterating over a list and conditionally removing items. If you don't slice it you are changing the list as your iterate over it and you get unexpected results (like skipping items). Or you could just use li

Are there any commitments that you can put on pause? Maybe you can't just drop the project, but if you aren't going to have time to work on it for a month, then officially delay it for a month so it's at least off your mind.

That is an awesome idea. And if no one wants to "buy" then probably no one cared about it in the first place so I shouldn't feel bad about letting it die. I'll have to try it out - I've got a good project in mind that this approach might wo

I like the idea of prioritizing, but I find that even small projects that I abandon have a disproportionately large negative effect on my emotions/confidence/drive. It reminds me of what someone once told me about the stock market - getting

Ha, that reminds me of a program I was writing in MATLAB. I used `i` for a loop index in one part of the script and then later when doing some complex number calculations (`2 + 3i`)...it was one of those so-stupid-you-have-to-laugh moments

All the things you are listed are about Getting Better... Your conversations shouldn't be reciting self-help books to each other. Sharing stuff you think is awesome and kicking around projects are both great examples of bettering each other
