I agree with all that, but thats not really what the argument is. As crappy as the Instagram web client might be, at least Instagram has a proper API, that accepts both authenticated and anonymous requests.

This is a cop out. All they have to do is use rate limiting. GitHub, Google, Instagram and many others seem to manage it fine.

I think its important to understand that big parts of the software community over-rely on this type of programming. In my opinion, over use of higher order functions is a cancer on programming languages, and should be used at the absolute m

Well, compared to Go, Rust, PHP, or many other modern tools, C is garbage in terms of build experience. Speed is important, but its not the only factor.

Fine by me. The C version was a pain in the ass to compile. The Go version compiles in less than one minute, with a simple `go build`, on Windows, Linux or any Go platform. I will take that over the faster speed every time.

I really dont like this. It just feels like people are trying to ram a square peg into a round hole. Personally I dont get why generics were needed in the first place. Every single example Ive seen so far, could be pretty easily replaced wi

You seem to have a habit of getting off topic. This thread was never about Zig, it was about Andrew shitting on other languages without justification. I think you can agree that for the basic example I gave, the Go language is easier, more

Im not sure how a 50 line program is better than a 5 line program, but OK. Also it seems you had to write functions to get the same result. My original comment, was that Andrew has a habit of shitting on other languages without proper refer

those dont do the same thing at all. strings.Builder can append a byte, rune, string, or byte slice: https://godocs.io/strings#Builder ArrayList cant do that. And strconv.AppendInt can convert a number to byte slice, then i

I don't see anything wrong in that example. As you said, golang has unicode/utf8, as well as the utf8string package. Is anyone really suggesting that the default slice should be on graphemes?

Which is exactly why I dont use any of those. I will stick to Go, or Rust, or Zig. People expect to be able to produce a single EXE. Maybe not as the default, but it should be an option, and an easy option. Any language that cant do that is
