The US did not control either Iraq nor Afghanistan when they took Baghdad or Kabul, respectively. That‘s not how a much weaker force fights nowadays against the more powerful opponent.

Maybe some deposit scheme would work. Two euros per package of cigarettes, get them back if you return your 20 cigarette butts. Bit disgusting, but I really despise all the cigarette butts even at the wildest locations.

Bit similar to how everyone misunderstands the size of Africa. Here's a nice toy to play around with for a couple of hours: https://thetruesize.com So it makes sense to compare the US to Europe as a continent. Got it. What

Why is Telegram not a social network? What's the key differences between a social network, a forum and a messenger service (with groups) that we could define to figure out what telegram actually is?

Thank you for providing a balanced argument containing facts and further descriptions, in the best spirit of HN. Sadly, it will not keep this thread from becoming dominated by single liners and cheap shots. For evidence, see below. It all b

Most, if not all of the rich entrepreneurs come from wealthy families. If you start rich it is so much easier to spend time on founding companies.

I think it‘s an understandable demand, no reason for snark. It‘s just that I want to replace my ICE and that‘s how I use it.

For me personally, it is 500km range under bad conditions, i.e., 120km/h speed and in winter. Alternatively 300km range added in about 15mins. Make such a stop after three hours anyway.

Probably depends on the input parameters. Lots of calls for freedom days and such as well as a general removal of measures probably changed the model conditions considerably.

I'm currently in the market for a dryer and checked the prices the last couple of days. It went from 649 Euros a week ago up to 739 Euros today. Fully expect it to fall back to 699 Euros tomorrow.

That‘s winter in Munich; plenty of people, me included, don‘t mind.

Never. That would be disastrous for all politicians involved. Tesla has support from the highest ranks of the state government.

It's extremely rare that that happens. It's typically considered a criminal offence if you are caught twice in two years, but rarely anyone is following up on that. Only really frequent repeaters are really prosecuted.

Out of curiousity: Do they only accept images taken using Nikon microscopes, or do they also accept other microscope makers (Zeiss, Leica, Olympus)?

Best documented library. It even provides examples, guidance and best practices in the documentation. Have rarely learned so much as when I went through the sci-kit documentation. Absolute delight.

That was indeed brilliant. Loved to watch that. Explosive attack, instant chaos. Wonderful football. Reminded me of Bayern playing under Heynckes, very similar in style.

Those mirrors (like all of ASML's optics) are actually developed and made by Carl Zeiss. And the lasers come from Trumpf.

I'd guess the ad-hoc simulation of the structure is computationally quite expensive and takes a while, though that's just a guess and I haven't read the original paper yet.

Everything has to happen simultaneously. Carbon emission reduction on a personal, community, city, state, country, supranational entity, global level. We simply cannot continue to wait for other, more emission-intensive actors, to act first

It isn't sheer evil in the novels, the corp wants to assess what's happening to people on a large scale if they become infected by the protomolecule. It's a study in a contained space. Not unlikely, I'd say.
