Well, to be fair, that's partly because the trick is to not become overweight in the first place. That said I agree. It's clear most people don't have the means and/or ability to do that without policy level help.

Damn, indeed. The Uncle Bob people (or, really, any "this book/blog post/whatever says to do technique x" people) are my absolute least favorite. This is a good riposte. Or, alternatively, if they don't understand w

Huh? This is not the response I expected, and doesn't even really speak to what I asked. "How did you work more on the things you wanted to?" doesn't mean I expect to somehow magically only ever get to do what I want. &q

Can you elaborate a bit? When I have a project I'm really exited about working on I'm productive and it feels great, when it's something I have to do for the business but I don't love the project, I'm slow and doing

Vacant units. Which is to say, yeah, maybe we don't need to build tons more, but we do at minimum need to use what we have and we aren't.

The first main point of this article is already wayyyy off the logical rails. 1. AIs don't even need superhuman cognitive abilities to defeat us! 2. They could just, make a bunch of copies and work together, but like, way harder and fa

Yeah, I'm aware it's in the kernel, but it's only useful for PCs. So effectively it's a "desktop" problem in terms of people deciding to dedicate resources to it. And... hence why it breaks all the damn time.
