https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS is all anyone needs except the standard itself.

Flex is great for one directional layout within a box. It is not great for two dimensions which most layout is concerned with.

> Things like SwiftUI and React are showing that declarative UIs can be built by tying the style to the layout That's what we call JavaScript and CSS. You can do that without React and my company has been doing that for 15 years qui

Nothing makes it into the standard until there are at least two implementations in browsers. The standard is based on implementation, not invention by anyone.

I've been saying this about dev.io since it's beginning. It's the place for frustrated redditors trying to make a name for themselves but only making fools instead. Do not bother reading anything there. It's as worthless

Using the name "toast" for this is equivalent to emojis and has no place in professional software and its specifications.

In fact, that's exactly the purpose of the one in our local grocery chain's stores (Schnuck's in St. Louis). It scans the shelves for inventory. It's not as big as the one shown in the article and I don't see it all

It probably would have helped enormously if they had given it a professional name other than "toast".

I have a feeling most of the addiction came from the food and drink industry. Perhaps the amount of sugar contained in the industry provided foods should be restricted to some sane amount and not a quantity to induce you to eat it. This way

That's not page layout as we're talking about. That is one of the proper uses of float.

If it's not game like then 20-somethings and younger--especially younger--won't bother. But these youngins are not what you want when you're trying to learn something. Especially professionally and the professionals are more

Similarly to tables, floats were not created for layout and shouldn't be used for layout anymore.

In a professional environment, I've always been able to take off for such things whenever I wanted without such things. "Hey, boss, I have to run to the bank. Be right back," was all that was required. I really didn't ev

Oil may be the easiest solution to the original problem. If there were no oil, would there have been a different solution that might have been as easy?

I was a reddit troll. Or at least that's what they called me. It started when I got involved in a sub where I am a fairly well-known expert. I would correct people. Get blasted cause I wasn't nice or they thought my answer needed

Tables are inflexible and inaccessible. Cells cannot be moved or resized without considerable effect on other cells. No developer worth his salt has ever used tables for layout since some time in the 2000s. The guy who first thought up such

You haven't looked hard enough and aren't aware of all the issues with using tables for layout. In addition, the attributes you show are now obsolete and non-conforming: https://html.spec.whatwg.org/dev/obsole

"Factory" bread can be "disgusting" because it's made to feed the masses and gain market share, not taste good. For the same reason hamburgers at McDonald's are not as good as those made at a quality restaurant

Not true. XHTML and HTML have validators to check your markup for proper syntax and usage. You know that. You made one of them! Good writers of markup will always check with those before they ship it. In the case of user supplied markup, th

I never understood that either except, as you said, for the hobbyist's sake. A lot of XHTML was generated from XML and, if one is using XML, chances are programming is involved in the transformation to XHTML. But programming has strict
