JavaScript is not terrible and I don’t understand where you got that from. Since ES2015 came out, it’s actually rather pleasant.

Probably a bunch of assertion types and general DX. Node:test is just a feature, Vitest is a whole product. The former might be enough for small packages but nowhere near useful for anything non-trivial.

> adding a second one for CJS Nobody is arguing for that. Once you ship ESM, you can continue shipping ESM. In Node 22 you can even require() ES modules (with an experimental flag, at the moment)

You can’t write complex TypeScript types in JSDoc, which is what GP said. The moment you need to declare or extend a type you’re done, you have to do so in a separate .ts file. It would be possible to do so and import it in JSDoc, but as

Collecting dots/vectors on a map doesn't necessarily invade my privacy. The problem comes with linking that dot with a person. As long as that link is lost and unrecoverable, I have no problem with Apple (or anyone) collecting it.

If you want to do that you can already knock yourself out with a custom DNS. Browsers must be neutral. From the article: > .top was the most common suffix in phishing websites over the past year, second only to domains ending in “.com.”

I still try to book direct because I (uh) enjoy opening 10 sites/apps at once and comparing the prices and getting the last dollar, but yeah if you value time more than money, booking direct is not a great idea.

This is the reason. Nothing is stopping airlines from offering 1-click bookings, except that lengthy funnels bring in tons of cash. Ryanair has been a master at this since the beginning of time. In 2020 I booked a flight directly on Google

It can go both ways. Pros of Expedia: - they have my card - their website does not suck as much as the airline’s - they let me cancel within 24/48 hours for free and immediately The second point can be a huge selling

Isn’t this kind of a huge deal? You can literally install and run Flash on an iPhone, at last.

Same thing happened to me. We had an “interview” and then ghosted me. Shortly after, his product was Sherlocked and I was ecstatic.

As bad as this is, nobody wants an Airbus monopoly, so let’s hope that individuals are arrested and Boeing continues to exists instead.

> shows a notation that is clearly superior to json I don’t see that at all? Why is `n:number=1` superior to `{n:1}`? If anything, CLI commands are awful for anything other than strings.

That’s not accurate. If your email is on your website, of course they can email you. If what you said was true in absolute terms, communication would be impossible.

I think that they’re as illegal as they are in the US, not more. I think it’s perfectly fine to “cold-call” people but then you’re not allowed to send more emails unless they subscribe or respond. In reality it’s very easy to end up subscri

To be fair, how many copies of one car do you need? Once you got 15 models on display you should be good to go for testing purposes. You don’t need a parking lot with a hundred cars.

You’re missing the point. Of course createRequire is a solution, it’s always been. The problem are tools and sub-dependencies that you can’t touch.

I really honestly wish node and npm would stop development already because they’ve been a huge drag on the entire ecosystem. GitHub could “buy” Bun, fire the entire npm team outside the registry and directly compete with Node.

Things change, especially when the Gov says they must. It’s already been a few years. Given the “Apple in China” precedent I wouldn’t be so optimistic.

Oof this looks awful and I pity anyone who started projects on this. It’s so far removed from regular JavaScript you should have just written your own language. If/when this project goes under, whole codebases need to be binned.

I wonder whose fault that is exactly. Did it just get neglected or were PMs fighting against “technical limitations”? Sometimes supporting the new shiny feature means breaking the old one. If it’s not clear that the new one is a winner, som
