No one linter or static analysis tool will pick up every possible error. cppcheck picks this up (a bit cryptically): clang-gcc.c:17:72: error: Invalid memcmp() argument nr 3. A non-boolean value is required. [invalidFunctionArgBool]

Clickbait title. I suggest making the obvious change to "LM386".

I really like the idea of decompiling ones' own code with Ghidra to see different ways the logic can be represented. Using `-Wextra` adds a warning about the signed\unsigned comparison, but Ghidra's `(ulong)(uint)` casts make that

This is definitely one way to get job, but in my experience watching others do it, a "couple of weeks" is more on the timeframe of a "couple of years" when someone else leaves to make a position available.

I actually use a scrolling document for most of my talks at work. I do this for a few reasons: I am lazy. I just want write in Markdown. I have a dynamic HTML renderer so I don't even have to render the document myself. https:/&#

There's been talk about Embrace Extend Extinguish coming to the Fediverse, with the counter-argument that anyone who tried it would find themselves almost universally de-federated and just building their own walled garden. I actually e

That's why news sites are writing articles about it. They always cover the most inane irrelevant stuff so that people don't read their sites. Great argument.

That's the weirdest network setup I've ever seen. Everything seems so spread out and inconsistent. I wonder how this set of names and paths came about?

Not sure relying on unintentional colouring behaviour of the syntax highlighting is really a "hack". More like an incidental result which just happens to work today. Also self-submissions are supposed to be a Show HN. Please edit

No. afaik all the main books you see recommended are between 2.6.0 and 2.6.20. Pick a subsystem you're interested in and start reading the code. Learn introspection tools like SystemTap, perf, bpftrace, etc. Lurk the relevant mailing l

I love Markdown but it's probably not enough for this. It's hard to give specifics without more info, but you want every API reference to link back to its definition. Say a function is called like `function(arg1, arg2)` then I sho

I use Termux for a lot of things on my phone. git, neovim, ffmpeg, ImageMagick, mass downloading using scripts in various languages, SSH to other systems, grepping the Wordle list with regex when I'm stuck at 5 guesses... Anyway it

Graeber says that software maintenance is a "bullshit job" because it would be more efficient to just write bug-free software to begin with. Yeah thanks genius, why didn't we think of that. He also explored the idea of "

Addendum: If you are using something like kdump to capture a vmcore of those kernel panics, then ensure you set `kernel.panic` large enough that the vmcore can actually be written to the dump target. Setting it to 60 seconds is not much use
