Daylight Savings Time was first proposed to save candles, everything after is a forced retcon. This equally anachronistic law fits with that quite well. We are all very good at being modern humans.

That's probably why it's called "Basic Income Project" and not "Universal Basic Income Project".

Oh it's your project, cool. A current implementation of the same abilities is probably the source used to spin SpiralLinux. I haven't tried this myself but it at least looks possible. https://github.com/SpiralLinux

I used Freesco ("Free Cisco") to do the same. It's hilarious these days to think about a power-hungry 486 running full time to do such a trivial task.

That sounds awesome but it's been 13 years since the last update, does it still work?

Doesn't KVM work that way? You can give a VM "up to" a certain amount of memory but it doesn't allocate all that memory at first boot. iiuc that's because each VM is just a process which can increase its own heap. I

Strangely I noticed this because some parts of eBay stopped loading. I spent a while troubleshooting my privacy/adblock nonsense because surely CloudFlare couldn't be down but that's the only conclusion I could come to.

Intel publish datasheets which describe their network interface cards to this level. It's fantastic, literally anybody can write a driver for an Intel NIC for any OS. You can also debug existing drivers when you get strange hardware is

It's not like that fact is hidden or unexpected. These people knowingly took jobs there. They almost certainly were on a long waiting list with many other candidates who also wanted the job. Regardless, it doesn't matter how "

This conduct is such a disappointment. These scientists are supposed to be some of the greatest people in their fields, working in the most desired jobs, in a unique beautiful place which costs normal people the price of a car to even visit

I looked into congestion control earlier in the year. It's hilarious to see the things which were hard coded in the first BSD implementation, like a 4 KiB socket buffer size. Also, as far as I can see, Bill Joy DID actually have linear

Current ThinkPad T14 has 7840U. This is the same width/length as my "13 inch" Skylake ultrabook (Asus UX305UA) and only 3mm thicker. ThinkPad T14s Gen 3 has a 6850U and is ~1mm thinner than T14. You're right though, none

Please provide a reliable scientific reference about "unlocking a cell". This sounds like pseudoscience nonsense along the same lines as "detox" treatments and "wellness" products.

Except it doesn't work. It's easy to coax BBR into converging on using 20% of a shared link instead of 50% (cohabiting with one other stream). The inverse is true and it's easy to get BBR to hog 80% of a link instead of 50% (

I like your better I/O idea. Many systems which cost more than a good car are still coming with the Broadcom 5719 (tg3) from 1999. They have a single transmit queue and the driver is full of workarounds. It's a complete joke these
