I have UC. I've been experimenting with diet for 2 years now. If this current diet fails, I'll just have to give up. Sure, lots of folks won't change how they eat. But some people really are making radical changes to their di

Gosh, I hope so. I have UC (ulcerative colitis), and my quality of life can vary wildly depending on flare-ups. It's a pretty brutal condition, and a horrible way to live if the disease isn't well-managed by meds or other therapie

The UX changes every other month it seems, which is upsetting and jarring every time. Lately, the app keeps forcing me to update my password which is annoying. I miss the heart button. Why would they remove it? I never like spotify's &

In theravada buddhism, this is called applying the faculty of wise attention. We have zero control over our thoughts, but we have control over the object of our attention (and it improves with practice). When unpleasant thoughts arise, the

Oh this is the worst thing that could happen to any parent, but the writing was beautiful and so moving. Thank you for sharing. I am feeling such a great sympathetic grief but also great awe at how palpable the love and care is in this writ

I can see no benefit at all to having children in this day. Parents are expected to engage with their child at all times, and it's no longer socially acceptable to let a child roam the neighborhood as it was when I was a kid. In the US

Remember those very dramatic warnings before movie trailers equating piracy to real-world theft (You wouldn't steal a car; you wouldn't rob a bank; piracy is a crime...)? Seems laughable now.

> A burning question in my mind: how does one get motivated to work on something that they'll probably not even live to see come to fruition/failure? Personally, I wouldn't be, unless if there was some pay involved. "

Wow! Well this explains why carrot tastes like soap to me too, but no one ever talks about soapy carrot flavor!

As another comment said, I'm guessing on the taste of paint thinner from its smell.

I'll eat it in specific contexts: chinichurri and salsa verde, which have sufficient garlic to mask the taste. But I do feel a bit wistful that I can't truly enjoy it.

There must be. I posted a similar comment. I can't stand the taste of celery (tastes like grass and paint$ or cilantro (tastes like soap), and carrots also have a hint of soapy taste to my palate. Otherwise, I love all vegetables and c

Perhaps there is a generic situation at play? Cilantro to me tastes like soap, and celery to me tastes like grass mixed with paint thinner. I can't tolerate it in any form. But I love to cook and adore every other vegetable. Just celer

This title made me laugh. Life is very short and very precious. Being a "quitter" is not a bad thing. Take ownership of your precious time when you are on a path that is not working for you.

The human condition is to constantly fight the unpredictable nature of the universe. Too hard to accept that we can die at any moment (at the end of this week, this day, this sentence even), and so we attempt to create order in the universe

I don't love this, but I don't disagree at all. I think many men underestimate just how much women crave and seek out beauty. Not just within themselves, but within the world. Men who have a similar eye for beauty are irresistible

You know, with my mom being a single mom, I think there is something of an interdependency between her and her youngest child (my sister). Possibly even a codependency. That is to say: there is no real power struggle between them. They acce

This is a bit bluntly stated, but I agree wholeheartedly. I am an introvert who enjoys social interaction occasionally, but it must be meaningful in order not to be a draining experience. I have often felt like the nectar for a hungry extra

This comment made me chuckle. Because I am a sober alcoholic. One of the things I remind myself all the time is: "It's wonderful that people can enjoy alcohol in moderation. I am not one of them."
