Oh, Sleep is great. I'm also surprised none of the comments (up to this point) have mentioned High on Fire, Matt Pike's other doom metal band. They're incredible live.

Very sad news. Bowie's music has brought me so much joy. His influence on rock n' roll (and popular music in general) remains evident to this day.

You're being down voted for the shaming part but I thought I'd expand on your other points. Speaking as someone who is interested in vintage computing, I find it futile to try to justify that interest to others. Hell, my friends t

For me, it's personal preference. Node.js is used and loved by many, but to me it's just an asynchronous event loop running on a single threaded process with a JavaScript API. I've written performant Node.js code and maybe fo

As a full time JavaScript developer, I would never choose Node.js for the back end if I had the choice. Elixir or Ruby all the way.

This is wonderful. I'm quite fond of Lua and while I've tinkered with LÖVE here and there, the lack of mobile support turned me off from using it for serious projects. I'll be giving it another look soon. As an aside, I'

Because it helps your users save time, Magic increases conversion rates and makes the web easier to use. Honestly, how much time do you really save by auto completing a couple of fields? This seems like a solution in search of a problem.

I can think of a few reasons to avoid Ada. For one, resources and community for this language are basically nonexistent compared to C++. The history of the language is obscured in proprietary implementations which has led it down the same r

I'm guessing the perceived burden of debugging when dealing with function chaining (especially when you consider side effects from inheritance, it can get ugly). This is actually a case where operator overloading could allow for more m

I grew up on Macs from the System 7 to Mac OS 9 era, so this was a bit of nostalgia for me. I do think the OS was outdated even for its time. Memory protection could be found in Windows NT, OS/2 and every Unix-like OS to my knowledge.

Out of curiosity, I wanted to know what the maximum z-index is. The CSS 2.1 spec doesn't present this information, but it turns out to be 2147483647 (the maximum value for a 32-bit integer). Now what does that z-index say about the Jav

I'm sorry if this comes across as negative, but this is an example of using the wrong tool for the job, IMO. I love Erlang and Elixir because BEAM gives me easy concurrency, metaprogramming and best of all, fault tolerance via supervis
