I think it is great that microsoft has a diversity policy and is making clear to everyone there that it matters. It is quite ham-handed, but that is kind of the default in corporations of that size. I can imagine the frustration having to d

The current frontpage story about Dvorak layout for the iPhone triggered me to search online if someone implemented a single handed chording keyboard. It turns out someone has! For me, having a chording keyboard on the phone itself is the k

Not necessarily. After the transform, there are more runs of characters, but it could be that this comes at the expense of recognizable patters (like common words) in the input. It likely helps simple compression algorithms more than sophis

It works the other way too: If a politician objects to FAANG privacy violations, they should not introduce laws that allow such violations themselves.

I don’t particularly like crypto but I don’t think we need to rehash the same debate again. Isn’t it interesting to hear what this guy is going to do? Passing judgement does not improve the conversation.

An easy question to ask: “would it be fine to add or remove an arbitrary number of leading zeroes?” If no, don’t put it in a number field.

That is expected to a degree: the revised colors are less saturated because some white is blended in. The point is that they stand out more against a black background. Is that also your observation?

If you know assembly, Pascal took away a lot and gave little in return, and it was verbose. I worked on a 80x25 monitor so the verbosity was annoying. Only functions could return values, but they were not guaranteed to be pure. No early ret

It looks a bit too simplistic: Blocks with up to 4k items are stored as sorted lists. Having to insert in a sorted list up to 4k items seems very expensive to me.

I suppose it helps that truth is self-consistent? You could write articles explaining a flat earth model but that would introduce many ad-hoc arguments that violate other observations and confirmed physics phenomena.
